We Will Have An Answer To Youtube On Pandora -- Webm.

If you actually followed the story properly you'd see that Google hasn't frozen the spec at all, they expect WebM to evolve as they know that's part of the open-source development model. Don't believe me? Take a look for yourself (Codec Research section): http://www.webmproject.org/code/roadmap/...

We Will Have An Answer To Youtube On Pandora -- Webm.

From what I've read VP8 is better now than Theora, so from one perspective it's a step up. I don't see the point in supporting h.264, it offers little in the long run, better to support open standards now to give them a chance to mature.

We Will Have An Answer To Youtube On Pandora -- Webm.

VP8 doesn't need to be the best codec ever designed, it needs to be competitive on the web, which it already is (by the looks of it). Should also point out that the open-source x264 has taken years to get to the stage of making h.264 as efficient to encode/decode as it currently stands, put the...

Ipad: What Do People Here Think Of It?

Here's another really nice tablet, the Notion Ink Adam. The only flaw I could find with it was it has capacitive multi-touch, resistive multi-touch would have been better. Other than that it's pretty much a perfect tablet device IMO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQvefuCHZds Still don't see...

    Scratchbox

Hi all, Wasn't following the boards as closely for a few months, so don't know if this has already been brought up, but it seems like Scratchbox would be a perfect platform for developing Pandora apps on a PC, you can read about it here: http://www.scratchbox.org/ I only know about it because...

Amiga Fans?how Many People Own Amiga.pandora Emulation Will Be Cool.

If you think the Minimig is good now, you should know that an AGA version is imminent, it won't run on the Minimig v1.1 hardware, but the Replay board (a.k.a. FPGA Arcade) is almost finished, and is effectively Minimig v2. Read more here: http://www.fpgaarcade.com/ ...and here...

Doom 3 /enemy Territory Source Code Update

Quake 3 has been open source for a while, it already runs on the Pandora, we've even got videos to prove it! ^_^

    Next Generation Pandora

To be fair to Nokia, they make nice h/w, and with the battery life claims it's rumoured they're using the next Atom revision (IIRC the Northbridge in the Atom we've seen to date consumed more power than the CPU itself, which the next version was due to fix) so maybe the battery life claims...

Openpandora Looking For A Buyer ?

It's not truly reprehensible. The OMAP3 in the Pandora and Beagleboard is a SoC design, meaning most of the functions of the devices are contained within one chip. Beagleboard and Pandora are similar, hardware wise, not identical but similar. Why is that so controversial?

    What's A Good Ui Library?

@dflemstr Fair enough, seems like Qt is flexible and powerful. I can still think of times when you only need a simple GUI but when you need a bit more Qt seems like a logical choice.

    What's A Good Ui Library?

That is smaller than I expected. You're thinking about the problem the wrong way. A better question than 'why can't we use a 10MiB library?' is 'why use a 10MiB library when I can build a GUI using a smaller library?'. I dislike code bloat, it's nothing to do with whether the Pandora will be...

    What's A Good Ui Library?

Most videos we've seen of Pandora running Linux have used the Enlightenment Destop, so maybe it's good to look at the EFL for GUI coding. I'll back up your Agar suggestion though, if the OP is creating a simple GUI then Qt seems like overkill. What is the size of a typical Qt .so?

Would You Be Interested In A Series Of Gaming Related Tutorials?

@wardred Sounds like a worthwhile project wardred, especially if you can make it Pandora-focused for newbies, so I voted yes. One thing I'd recommend is trying to make your code as nice to read as possible, for instance I can't understand why you didn't add the line 'using namespace std;' at the...

Release New Video: Complete, Working, Portable Pandora

Great video, thanks MWeston. Small request for whomever makes the PR-friendly video, can we have demonstration of working WiFi and/or Bluetooth please? Seems to be the only major features that haven't had video time so far (unless I've missed a vid).

    Touch Screen Specs

Seriously paolo, if all you want is an in-car entertainment system there are better choices (with power/price ratio) than the Pandora (seeing as you no longer need the portability of the machine). As already suggested, a Beagleboard or a netbook with a touchscreen would be much better bet, and...

    "around 10+ Hours Battery Life"

Hahahaha, yeah whatever. The fact that the transistors and other components on an IC are smaller mean that they are potentially faster for a number of reasons, the electrons have a smaller distance to travel to get the same work done for example.
