    Buying Japanese Raw Manga

Wow, that's a coincidence. I just started teaching myself Japanese as well. I finished learning the kana a few days ago, and now I'm using a book called Remembering the Kanji to learn the kanji, then I'm going to get to grammar. I'll admit the method I'm using is kind of boring, because I can't...

    Antivirus

Unless you're running a mail server from your Pandora, you probably don't need any antivirus software.

    Streammygame

To put it in windows terms, it's like the setup file for a windows application, where you get to pick where stuff is installed to and select options. In this case, however, if you were to use it on the Pandora, unless the sh file is compiling it from source (and I very much doubt that...

    .sh Files

Good god, man. Fix whatever's making you double post. To answer the question, sh files are shell scripts. Yes, they will run on the Pandora, without any porting or anything.

    Dosbox Running Windows 95

That's what I've been wondering ever since I first heard of streammygame. When I searched for gaming + vnc or any of those other similar protocols, everyone seemed to say it was too slow to play games. But most of that discussion is several years old. I don't know if it's just that now network...

    Mii-like Avatars?

Seeing as the Pandora runs linux, I'd think this wouldn't be too terribly difficult to implement. Most applications store per-user settings in the user's home directory anyway. We'd just need the interface to be designed with several users in mind. If I were to take a guess, I'd say right now...

    Dosbox Running Windows 95

Your best bet would be to ask them to port it. I'd think a port for the Pandora wouldn't be too terribly difficult. Why win95 though? There is a linux version, though I'm assuming it's x86 only. You could emulate an x86 linux machine and still get much better performance than win95 in dosbox...

    July Videos And News

Damnit, you got my hopes up. As soon as I saw the title of the thread, I went to go check for news at openpandora.org and I was disappointed... :( On-topic, I would like to see a video of the entire startup process, the default GUI, and playing a PSX game. Information about preorders would...

    Actual Mhz And Overclocking?

I'm quite relieved to hear it will use cpufreqd. That makes much more sense than requiring all applications to manually set clockspeed.

    Actual Mhz And Overclocking?

Wait, so are all applications going to have to set the clockspeed manually? I was under the impression there would be something similar to cpufreqd that could scale clockspeed dynamically. I'm probably going to have mpd running in the background while I play games, as well as do other...

    16gb Kingston Sdhc For $93

Hmm? Where are you seeing 14GB compressed? If you just want the articles, without talk or history (or images/sounds/etc.) it's a 3.7GB bz2 from what I can see. Edit: I suppose it would be different if you were downloading a non-english version, but if anything I'd think that would be smaller...

    Actual Mhz And Overclocking?

Thanks for the answer MWeston! For anyone who doesn't feel like downloading the pdf, here's the information about part life. I'm not going to put the whole table of operating modes and voltages and all that because that would be a gigantic quote. So according to this, you could use it solely in...

    Actual Mhz And Overclocking?

Even at the same voltage, higher clockspeed does mean more power consumption. IIRC, energy usage varies linearly with clockspeed and with the square of the voltage. So clockspeed doesn't have as much of an effect on battery life as voltage, but it does make a difference. I would assume that it...

    16gb Kingston Sdhc For $93

Umm... am I missing something here or is that not a terrible deal? You can get 16GB class 6 cards for ~$50 at newegg or amazon. Is there some special feature with this card I'm not aware of?

    Actual Mhz And Overclocking?

Actually, that's kinda something I've been wondering about. That oh-so-famous 900 mhz estimate, is that with default voltage, or is it at the limit? Meaning, could we increase the voltage and get an even higher clockspeed?

    Actual Mhz And Overclocking?

I would think the only thing you could do that might seriously reduce the life of the CPU would be to set the voltage over the recommended limits (which from what I've read is software controllable).

    Pandora Shell Colors.

Am I a geek if, when I saw the title of this thread, I first thought it was going to be about font colors for the terminal on the Pandora? :P Anyway, this idea, and the creation of accessories in general, probably depends on how successful the Pandora is from a commercial standpoint. I agree...
