gtkwhiteboard (not sure if its actually the one youre linking to, but thats why i use for wiimote whiteboard on linux) is a python application, shouldn't be to hard to get running, may even run out of the box if all needed libs are there.
I voted for the gui,
even thou i didn't read most of the thread first.
Let me explain myself:
The question doesn't relay seem to be graphical user interface or applications,
but if the next batch of dev units should go to kernel hackers/firmware devs or emulator authors.
My perception on this...
Thats strange, i have no idea what that mod is supposed to be.
Looks like the wires go from the voltage regulator to the smc slot, but why?
edit: actually it looks like the wires may not go anywhere but have resistors at the end, that would explain what they are for - over voltage mod for...
in most of there cases its just the ltsk (voltage regulator) which goes crazy, if you are good at soldering you can replace it yourself. else evildragon also offers repairs for a small fee+shipping to/from germany.
In the case of 12v however there could be a bit more broken, but it cant hurt to...
you could boot knoppix on your pc and try if it works there, if it does chances are it will also work on the pandora.
also decoding dvb mpeg2 should be a easy task for the cpu alone, i dont think one would need the hw accerlation for that.
it overheats? turn it into a coffee warmer!
But seriously, cant be much of a problem, just open the lower part (usually theres a little extra opening next to the fan) and suck/blow the dust out, should be done in minutes and it should be fine again.
if i remember right the omap has quite a few unused io lines, maybe they could just pull some low/high to encode the revision with that.
edit: oops, missed squidges comment, so forget that.
