    Announcing Droidora - - - HELP WANTED

Yeah, I'm not really adding anything new, but it seems to me that Android would require OCing the CPU just to have a smooth UI, remove the ability to develop native Linux apps without jumping through NDK hoops, cause fragmentation in community, and still not be able to access the official...

Cool accessory for UK pandora users

Wow, I feel sorry for you guys. The NA plugs are smaller than that even when they're unfolded, and you can still plug them into your British sockets via really small adapters. They must defy your plug safety standards, but hey, I'm still alive, and I haven't started any fires, either ;)

    A fresh new start, Part 2 (2011-07-12)

I agree with this and possible DM3730 upgrades in principle, but I doubt a wireless fix is easily possible. RF stuff is really a black art, and as far as I can tell, it's a lot easier to screw up the antenna design than for the chips to be at fault. This would mean changing that part of the...

    A fresh new start, Part 1 (2011-07-12)

I would strongly assume that even if the batch 2 boards are produced first, they will put them into batch 1 cases and respect the queue.

A Brief history of Roms and Bios Legality?

This is an awesomely quotable quote. Another thing that troubles me is people who actually worry about whether their private use of stuff they've purchased infringes on the owner's copyrights. For crying out loud, you paid for it already, and even if it does infringe, don't let that limit you...

I think I should formly Introduce myself

Sony, if you don't like thin client gaming, just ignore it. You're making us look like a bunch of relentless naysayers.

A Brief history of Roms and Bios Legality?

No, not really. If it's legal to play your own backups in Germany, then it doesn't matter what Nintendo thinks of that, they are not entitled to forbid you from doing it.

    Cancelled

+1; people who voice perfectly legitimate opinions don't deserve to be flamed. If you love your Pandora so much, next time you're going to flame someone for saying they prefer a phone/3DS/etc., just go pick up your Pandora instead and save us from the needless confrontation.

    Cancelled

I don't necessarily mean they should actually do it, or even that they should threaten to do it. I just wish they had at least one alternative company to fall back on so that they would have that option open, because it seems like CircuitCo knows they can afford to just jerk them around. I have...

    Cancelled

Has the excessive standby power usage been fixed, then? A few months ago, CircuitCo agreed to a schedule, which wasn't a very ambitious schedule, either, and since then they've failed to adhere to it, otherwise batch 1 would be finished, right? What excuses are they making for this in private...

No no no this is not right.

Indeed, I remember seeing plenty of references to it. I meant the part about a founding dev quitting the project over it, though. That seems like an important piece of Pandora backstory. edit: nvm, found it

Is it wrong of me to want a link to the order number fiasco? I missed that party.

    Moderating: SONY Vs SONY

He already locked the original thread where people were complaining that he was made a mod. He gave a rationale, but I don't think it makes up for the obvious conflict of interest. I can't blame him for wanting to lock a thread like that, but moderators shouldn't be using their privileges on...

im about to order a pandora

It's a lot more complicated to get working than that, unfortunately. There's a description here, but it might also be helpful to just run strace on flash and see what libraries it tries to dlopen when you play an h.264 video.

No no no this is not right.

I just want to throw my two cents in by saying that even though I don't think leaving is the answer, Craig's idea of community engagement has caused me to ask some serious questions too. If the way I feel, and the posts of others, are any indication, Craig's antics are seriously damaging the...

    About the hardware

I can't talk about sound cards, but whenever you boot up Linux without any driver support for a graphics card, Xorg's VESA driver is the only way to get a graphical session running, and in my experience, it works (for some definition), even on cards from the last 2 years.

It may improve with DSP support, but only if the version of Flash you're using tries to decode the video via the DSP, through e.g. OpenMAX libraries.
