    Release Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Your analogy is just as ridculous and wrong. The binary data is directly linked to the problematic content, aka the only use of the binary data is accessing the content. Providing and advertising the binaries implicitly advertises the game and its problematic content (since what else could you...

    Release Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Yeah that's what I thought. Still it's illegal in Germany to distribute the game to minors or even "advertise" it (which in a retail game shop means it's not even allowed to have the game lying around publically, adults have to come and specifically ask for it) - a public entry on the repo...

    Release Return to Castle Wolfenstein

The reasons are as stated in my last post: I am not a lawyer and would rather have an expert look into this before any problems arise. For example, one could argue that the binary data invites and enables you to display the illegal images, which is not "easily" possible otherwise (since it's...

    Release Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Screenshots don't matter, it's simply illegal to distribute media with "propaganda" content (meaning swastikas and stuff like that in this case) in Germany. The "full" version might be okay, since the files located on EDs server indeed do not contain any of this (I am not sure, an expert on...

    Can free-to-play *ever* be good?

Facebook games or "social games" are garbage in general, they are made to be addictive and time consuming, not to promote fun. It's actually kind of bad. Some free-to-play games with a good monetization scheme are: Leage of Legends, Dota2, Team Fortress 2, Tribes Ascend, Monday Night Combat...

    Release Return to Castle Wolfenstein

I have disabled this application on the repo for now. The reason for this is the appearance of nazi-symbols in the game, wherefore it is forbidden to distribute it in Germany (StGB §86). Since ED's server is located in Germany he might be in risk of a legal attack. Just to be clear, I am no...

    Mini Menu Skin

It's probably the result of the panel type used in the Pandora. Most TFTs are not exactly good when it comes to displaying gradients (especially grey), so the blocks or lines you are seeing is just a result of the actual colour depth of the panel. (This effect is called "banding")

    Mini Menu Skin

I am not a big fan of those gradients. Imo, you have to be careful when using gradients in general, they have to be subtle (go from one colour to a just slightly darker/brighter version of said colour, usually not to full white or black, example) or they will look cheap and out of place. (for...

Any development I could do to help...

CodeBlocks does have regular releases, one just has to use the nightly builds (which have been stable in my experience): http://forums.codeblocks.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=8683kbi0sjvnpbpee9ivctsiv1&board=20.0 (I used CodeLite for a short while, the differences to Code::Blocks felt negligible)...

    Failed Ports/Compilations [ Learning ]

Oooh, is that publicly available? I would love to have a working D compiler and libs for the Pandora (only really need standard libs and SDL with D bindings)

How To celebrate 1000 PND on Repo..a suggestion

Well, you would not call the first uploaded PND the 0th PND, would you.So while internally the first PND is stored in an array with index 0 the one with index 1023 is actually the 1024th one in natural language. No extra byte needed or whatnot.

How To celebrate 1000 PND on Repo..a suggestion

Who cares for the 1000th PND... the 1024th one is where it is at.

[Release] Compo4all MAME - ladder/scoreboard competition for classic arcade games :)

Yeah that's what I worry about, too. Right now cheating is not a problem. Although I agree, any kind of encryption is not going to hold up and honestly I have not thought about license complications too much.

[Release] Compo4all MAME - ladder/scoreboard competition for classic arcade games :)

To summarize: Problem: You can simply call sc with an arbitrary score for any game and submit that. Solution: Encrypt the score and the game, give out an "api key" to every game, so the encryption of one game does not match one of the others. Simple symmetrical encryption where one key is...

[Release] Compo4all MAME - ladder/scoreboard competition for classic arcade games :)

Okay, thanks for your input on how to handle scores. I agree that end of the session is probably the way to go, although I see an advantage of sending scores as they are achieved: save, not lost on a crash without caching. Sending every score (even the ones not being highscores) makes sense...

    Feedback for repo.openpandora.org

Minor thing: There is a spelling error on the "Account details" page, "API Key Generator": "This key will give packagemanager programs access to allow your to rate apps or leave comments from within the app itself:" (your -> you)

[Release] Compo4all MAME - ladder/scoreboard competition for classic arcade games :)

What is the best practice of submitting scores to the c4a server (from a game developer's point of view)? Should the game developer try to aggregate and cache scores and only submit the best one after a session (like NubNub does) or submit every new highscore (like Super Hexagon does) or only...

    Pandora improved SDL for pandora

TV Out Cable: Time to Mass produce! (2013-06-22)

Disappointed it's only a dongle, but whatever finally I will be able to connect my Pandora to a TV. (ps: size does not really matter if you have to fit another two cables in the carry case to be able to connect to anything ;) )
