Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

Hopefully we'll get the option to buy new mainboards in the future as mobile tech changes or better chips become available. I don't have a $7000 machine to replace these chips with.

Yep. That's the gist of it. http://searchmobilecomputing.techtarget.com/tip/700-MHz-Why-is-it-so-valuable Bands 2 & 4 operate in the 1700-2100 MHz range.

Band 12 is the 700 MHz block A that T-Mobile won over a year ago. 700 MHz being a lower frequency has a longer range (quite a bit more complicated but that's the layman's explanation). LTE is still supported on bands 2 and 4 and they have no plans on changing that as far as I can tell. They're...

The only difference between the two is that it supports Verizon's band 13 LTE, and the PLS8-US does not. It's not locked into Verizon's network. I really hope another comes out in the future that's pin compatible and supports t-mobile's band 12.

If there are too few 2GB sales, they'll probably just produce the 4GB board. It'll make more sense and keep from segmenting users more than they already will be. I doubt they'd have to do anything except remove two chips from the board, but that'll take time. And time is money.

Sorry about that. I did come across as a bit of an ass. I tend to do that from time to time when I don't read what I'm posting out loud. I do it IRL as well, much to the hilarity and detriment of those around me. I think the vibration motor is on all versions.

Someone has already asked this question before and had it answered. I doubt that answer has changed. https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/threads/bugs-and-calculations.77212/page-6

    D-pad question

Due to the design of the pandora/pyra, it's impossible to mod in a d-pad similar to the one used on the neo-geo x as it requires a hole in the center of the pad for the stick to push though. This type of stick was used on the pocket color, the pad for the neo geo cd, and most recently for the...

Cellular Discussion [Split from] Bugs and Calculations

It's just too bad that it's too late to move the modem/antenna/sim to another daughterboard. Edit: Although purchasing a different mainboard would be a possibility if they release a better modem in the future I guess.

Crowd Funding the Pyra - Let's help ED make it work

I don't like to bring it up, but this must be said as well. Most of us here remember the icp2 disaster; I was a backer, myself. We all have an almost certain idea of what caused it, and whom to blame for it. Like it or not, this community was linked to the icp and I see this playing a part if a...

Crowd Funding the Pyra - Let's help ED make it work

Here's the thing. If a x86 cpu board is possible it would be quite a nice achievement for the pyra. This would make steam (and many other dd platforms and games) on the pyra a possibility. There's quite a market there if it can be done. This is something I could easily see being done on...

    Question about the modem

Just fyi, the pls8-us does band 17 which is a subset of band 12. This does not include the new LTE 700 Mhz block A that is the majority of the new T-Mobile LTE network as far as I can tell. It does support the older bands though, so that's good.

    Question about the modem

Have the specs of the modem been released yet? The information I have been able to find on it has been a little sparse. Will it support GSM bands 12, 2, and 4 (US Tmobile)?

Openpandora2, what we know so far.

You are of course, correct. The problem as I see it is that they're trying to design the product with a finite size in mind in terms of external dimensions. I'm assuming the case will be made of ABS plastic for durability and cost concerns. Case regitity and integrity would also be a necessity...

Openpandora2, what we know so far.

As far as I know they're both electrically compatable. I've seen on several sites out on the net an adapter that has a full size sd card socket paired to a ribbon cable that in turn pairs up to a "dummy" micro sd card that inserts into your device. If the micro sd card slots (if used) were...
