    Grips?

Who knows. I might even have it cnc'd if I want it badly enough.

    Grips?

I just want something that I can clip on for long trips, really. I just checked out the blender file, and while it's in a great spot for you right-handers (just like that stylus), I'll probably get some use out of it as well. I never noticed that before.

    Grips?

If I do end up having one printed, I'll probably end up doing that. I'll have to look into it, but I'm assuming the charging circuit accepts ~5V@2.4A? It wouldn't be any problem to leave space in the handles for a couple of 3.7V cells and either a small vreg circuit or add some leads and a flex...

    Grips?

Are there any plans for a set of grips for the Pyra? Every small device I own I either have to buy or print something like this to let me use it for any extended amount of time. My digits aren't as nimble as they used to be.

Able to upgrade not just the speed but manufacturer of CPU?

Is there anything stopping someone else releasing a cpu board for the Pyra? They could just up and design one themselves if they wanted to AFAIK. Why should they? They're a different country with different laws. Don't like it? Stop trading with China. Easy.

Able to upgrade not just the speed but manufacturer of CPU?

There's no way I would allow that if I was doing it. You'd have to pay the partner a prohibitive amount to design the board. I understand some their reasoning though. It keeps their silicon out of products that don't meet a certain standard of quality. It's all about brand image and control...

Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

How about giving the US 4G users the option to put the full cost of the device upfront instead of just a down payment? That's an extra 225 EUR per person right there if he needs the funds.

I don't really see it being a problem unless he decides to switch to a different mobile chip in the future. If he needs to he can take up a collection from those of us that want a US 4G model (myself included). ED doesn't need all 500 to go ahead and order the chips, he just needs enough money...

    Dual SoCs?

You know, we could go back to the days before the pentium pro and slot 1/A and have the L2 cache on the motherboard again! :D

    Dual SoCs?

Two SoCs is a completely different thing from two CPUs. SoCs have graphics, usb controllers, timers, storage controllers, etc. built into them along with the CPU. It is--possible--technically just like anything else, but there's no reason to do it when there are better SoCs to move to in the future.

Yeah? I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the heads up.

Eh? Since when did Mint mean Cinnamon? Since when did ~1800-2000 units become HUGELY-successful? I would go on, but I really don't care to. :D

They do, and all I will say about it is that I agree with most of their points, if not all. People need the freedom to live in a cage if they wish, too. :| I'll leave it there and talk no more about it, it can be a very contentious subject.

Able to upgrade not just the speed but manufacturer of CPU?

Open source SoC? What? Do you mean the drivers for the SoC? Like the graphics driver? Drivers will be available for linux, that's a given. The xorg driver should already support it with minor tweaks if it sticks with a GCN architecture. There's always fglrx though. You'd be dealing with x86...

Able to upgrade not just the speed but manufacturer of CPU?

As far as SoC's go, they have the GX-217GI (Which is a bit too large I think) and the GX-218GL which is bga-769 (they also have a 6W TDP version of this chip). What I'd like to see is a future variant of the LX series with HBM, We'll see. They don't have a "mobile" SoC per se but they do have...

Able to upgrade not just the speed but manufacturer of CPU?

I think it would be a wiser idea to go with an AMD chip instead of an Intel one. That is, if they release something along the same line. They have several products that are close, but we'll have to wait for the 14nm node on AMD before we know whether they'll have a competitive product that would...

Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

I think the greatest factor to the lack of Pyra sales is the GPD Win. A x86 processor is much more useful than an ARM based one overall. If this pre-order had happened several months earlier, then we might be in a different situation. If there's a cpu board released with an AMD or Intel x86 SoC...

In the simplest terms, a protocol is how the signal operates. How are the packets structured? Are there even packets? Is it a pure digital signal or is an ADC required? Is the signal encrypted? What type of encryption? All these questions and more involve protocol. The frequency bands (2, 5...

Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

Nah. It's not impossible by a long shot. It depends on the layout of the board (if the traces are all on one layer, are there any other traces in the way, etc.). I'll have to have a look at the trace layout. I've seen it before but I'll have to hunt it up again. Impedance matching might become a...

Well, we aren't called the Democratic People's Republic of Ko America for nothing, you know. In hindsight, what would've been best is another daughter-board that could've been purchased separately with all the relevant mobile hardware on it. It still could be done, maybe in a revision of the...
