    A case of polls!

I bought one from ED back in the day and used it quite a bit.

    A case of polls!

Ha I wish I had 100k to just spend on a gadget. I ended up starting a very conservative investment for my daughter.

    A case of polls!

That was me. It wasn't a threat, I had 100k doing nothing, not invested in anything so I was willing to try a new form of investment and maybe speed things up a bit.

    What have you bought recently?

PS Vita. With a daedulus direct port getting updates and better each time, (and the pyra who knows when...because the parts have been on hand for months) I am hopeful of full n64 emulation at some point. Additionally Killzone Mercenary looks awesome and has bots. So why not. Might build a...

New Pyra pre-order - General questions

I'm saying that new users should be aware that even if things are ported to the Pyra now that could stop when ptitseb moves on even if debian continues to exist. 1599401175 The Pandora doesn't either...try using that extensively. I do understand what you are saying, but that argument could...

New Pyra pre-order - General questions

This thinking is pointless. "At some time in the future the internet could not be usable on the pyra" That statement is basically the same as yours. "At some point in the future there won't be updated ports for the Pyra" You can take that pessimistic view for anything. It literally works...

    Production Pyra photos/videos/thoughts thread

You could map it to a normal button. I would like scrolling with the dpad

    It's also a fact that they haven't.

New Pyra pre-order - General questions

Yes I think it will continue to work. - Authentication of software stack is through widevine, which comes from a chromebook image - If Netflix decided to change it it would effect millions of users - It would also piss off Google There are a lot of "coulds" in your post. Aliens "could"...

New Pyra pre-order - General questions

I mean with widevine extracted from a chromebook image and SW decoding, it has worked for 4 years on my pi. Only breaking chrome images would prevent it. And literally as long as there is a kodi build on the Pyra, it WILL work. Here is the addon github...

New Pyra pre-order - General questions

It's interesting to me. In the davesha thread people are bending over backwards regarding led color for the exceedingly rare colorblind use case (most cases are not anywhere extreme enough to completely not see those colors). Yet you want to eliminate a use case that most of the population has...

Pinebook Open-Source ARM based notebook (spectre safe)

eh I'll believe it when I see it at this point. I mean the Pyra will get here but i don't think it will be in 2 months.

Pinebook Open-Source ARM based notebook (spectre safe)

Nice. I'm waiting on my pinephone i ordered about a month ago now that a keyboard is on the horizon. Love the Cosmo Communicator hardware but the software is so buggy I can't deal with it anymore. At least the pinephone is opensource.

    Box86 - Linux Userspace x86 Emulator

That is a pretty interesting actually. How old is your mom if you don't mind sharing? I'm curious because my parents were pretty old when personal computers became a thing and Windows computers were the norm which is what drives my parent's fixation, it's what was available then and they knew...

    Box86 - Linux Userspace x86 Emulator

To me, a few years is stable and still acceptable. $35 for a pi, $5 for a 16GB SD card for OS and programs my parents use, I'll give them an external harddrive. You can burn through a lot of SD cards and years before approaching the cost of a low end desktop not to mention the size reduction...

    Box86 - Linux Userspace x86 Emulator

Agreed. My comment about the Pandora running off an sd card was based on programs being on the sd and read/writes to and from the sd. 1597804672 So "cheap-ass" isn't being derogatory and your post not intended to shame? Hmm I addressed your concerns quite clearly, but I'll reiterate: - I can...

Epic vs Apple Vs The World

This is why I'm with Epic on this one. If anything is a monopoly it's the app stores, and Apples app store especially

    Box86 - Linux Userspace x86 Emulator

What I noticed, interestingly enough because of the Pandora, is that a swap partition or a swap file definitely increased the corruption/failure of SD cards which makes sense given the ram on it and the computing requirements of today. I just didn't think about it until it happened to me. Also...

    Box86 - Linux Userspace x86 Emulator

My dad plays solitare and mine sweeper and browses the web (turbotax is the deal breaker). My mom use a chromebook to video chat. Oh yeah, I bought their current computers also. There is no point in a high powered computer. As far as support....You must be daft. Of course I do. I even made a...
