Alpha footage of new roguelike.. Darkwood

I like what you see, too.

    Release Brogue

I don't know how easy it is, but it would also be nice to decrease the darkened effect of the dungeon-parts that are not in your viewsight. It's very hard to see items if you are trying to review the dungeon before going down. Of course the effect should still be recognisible to determine...

    Release Brogue

Is that in the Pandora-version or on your PC? I haven't seen this bug in any of the two, but I do not play the game that often on the Pandora lately and never use autoplay - unless I accidentically pressed Shift+a instead of Shift+< (for > on a German keyboard).

    Release Brogue

The link to the 46th weekend screenshot does not work (for me). Anyway: Yeah that's most likely the same floating-point-rounding-differences in the calculation on different platforms that I have been told about. The one that is also causing the OOS-errors in playbacks and savegames. As far as I...

    Release Brogue

Recorded a game played on the Pandora. You could try if it works. There still might occur some OOS-error somewhere. I made it to level 18 and saw some new monsters I haven't seen yet. I'm still learning stuff here and there. I always though that protect armor/weapon is temporary, but it's...

    Release Brogue

Having this said, I just died at level 3 playing the seed from the WEcontest on my x86. <sigh>

    Release Brogue

Oh my: Entering the seed from the weekend-competition results in a different start-dungeon than the one shown in the screenshot. This is probably due to the same rounding-differences in the floating-point-maths that also bring the "out-of-sync-"-error when trying to playback recording made with...

    Release Brogue

Did you know there is an "easy mode"? -> http://brogue.wikia.com/wiki/Easy_Mode Also interesting: The existence and the technique of initiating a weekend-contests at...

    Release Brogue

My last postings might have sound like I am often having good runs. So I wanted to cheer up anyone having bad luck: Today I only had bad runs too. Deepest run was level 8 or so. Two runs were quiet promising, but I screwed it. Bummer.

    Release Brogue

I do have these problems too. Not every game of mine is a big success.  And often I am not patient enough to rest too, saying to myself "Ah well, now the enemy is dead. You can heal while exploring.". Sometimes that's a false assumption. :)   And about identifying objects: There are too few...

    Reboot from MiniMenu?

slightly off-topic, but I take the chance to mention it here since I have no clue where to report it: It would be nice if you could jump to the end of the select-menu-list by pressing dpad-up when being at the top of it.

    Release Brogue

Although I must admit that I don't fully understand the whole thing. I do understand that it does not work because of the differences in fp-processing of arm- and x86-cpus. But I am surprised that there are differences in the calculation-results at all. Without any further knowledge I so far...

    Release Brogue

oh well, I guess I have the answer: No surprise that I get "out of sync" directly at frame 0 on the Pandora. :P

    Release Brogue

I am using version 1.7 on both. But someone in Brogue-chat tried my recording on 686. He was able to play to somewhere at step ~10700 before getting an "out of sync"-error. So it worked further but still caused trouble. The whole system is still a bit buggy as it seems.

    Release Brogue

hm can get it fixed. Probably an issue due to some modification of the Pandora-Brogue. If you want to try to watch it on some x86-platform with a Brogue-version from the homepage then try the recording: Edit: Link removed since the recording is not playing on the Pandora. Read below. But I'm...

    Release Brogue

I agree to some part that the game is pretty hard. On the one hand I find this very thrilling, on the other hand there are often unfair and frustrating situations. I think the most important thing is to choose the right goal. For me right now, it's not really about finishing the game, but...

    Release Firefox 17.0.1 in repo

Another note: This might already by a problem when building a pnd. Not sure what owner the files have when you package it on a fat32-card. But back in time I had some problems with pnds on ext-fs too and asking the pnd-maintainers to repackage them helped. I can't recall what exactly they did.

    Release Firefox 17.0.1 in repo

It's not only this pnd. I have the feeling that there are issues with FAT32-cards with several pnds. Let me explain what IMHO causes this, although it's slightly off-topic as it's not only related to the Firefox-pnd: As far as i know FAT32 does not know anything about ownership of files. Thus...

    administrative password? root access?

To be precise: There is a regular root-user, but no password is set. By default you get root-access in a terminal by for example running "sudo su -" and entering your user-password. "exit" leaves and brings you back to user-level. You can also just execute a single command as root by running...

    Release Brogue

Not the second one of your assumptions. It did that for me without getting discordant. By know I know, that it was one of the monsters I was fighting. I read it in the Brogue-wiki.
