The current screen used on my 1GHz Pandora is more like a scratch-screen than a touch-screen. Dragging windows and files is a nightmare on my pandy.
Using the nubs for cursor control is more or less OK, but using an analog nub to simulate a mouse button is too much hit/ miss right now.
My vote...
I'd love the Pyra to have a good E-Ink screen. I see many feasible uses for it.
Just make sure that it does not jeopardize the project as a whole and that it is not fragile.
Thank you for the honest update.
Please revoke any moderation or administrative rights from Craig to these forums if that has not already been done. I backed at a $95,- level ($20,- for shipping). I hope to get a fair amount of that refunded.
Such a shame about all the collective time spent by...
Right:
Size
Audio
battery life
PND, except the problems that ekianjo already mentioned.
Open source hardware (mostly) and software.
SD-Cards for storage
DPAD
Construction without those pesky plastic clips.
weight distribution in the unit
full-sized USB-port (sadly lacking USB 1.1 compat.)

Not enough data to properly answer this poll. I second the idea of *not* including Craig in the project in any leading role. He may be a tech. supporter, but he should certainly not have any executive power whatsoever.
$500,- dollar is an awful lot of money. I would only do that if a) my...
I'm honestly surprised that so many posters chose HD. HD is both boring and meaningless, because there are so many standards all under the same HD Umbrella. The Open Pandora name was really strong, because it was whimsical (opening Pandora's Box) and a definite statement that it would feature...
Bukkit (and other pre-orders of the P1), if I were you I would go for the P1 and wait *if* the P2 comes to fruition. The information you have right now (imho) doesn't justify backing the P2. It is simply too vague.
No more pre-order qeue agony. this has to stop right here and now.
Keep the...
Look out, here comes a wall of text ;-)
@Cameleon:
- Unity is a development platform that can target many architectures. Even though it's closed source, it might be helpful to work together with them to create a universal module that would allow people to easily port (mostly games) to the...
Definitely stick with ARM architecture. X86 chips are inefficient power hungry dinosaurs that should become extinct asap.
There are a few UI things that really bug me about the current Pandora:
- The first is the horrid scratchscreen/ tapscreen, because any reasonable dragging motion on that...
Having a full touchscreen approach is deadly when you have to scroll through a directory tree with a resistive screen. That just doesn't work as in 80% of the time you will select a directory instead of initiating a scroll.
Luckily, the directory last selected does get remembered, so you only...
@Exophase:
I loved the disclaimer that comes with VLC for Android: "This is a Beta release. This might very well start the apocalypse or kill your cat. Use at your own risk!"
Or on a lighter note:
"This is *Alpha* software. This might cause your screen to snap in half, snipping off your...
I agree. In this case I would interpret the middle spinner as if it was in the middle between the two bottom spinners. Why the bottom ones and not the top ones? The top ones are connected to the gutter and should be reachable in the most logical way. That should take absolute precedence imo...
Actually the DSiWare games are generally much more interesting than the regular DSi-only (or "DSi enhanced") versions.
DSiWare has a lot of variety. ported games (some of which were originally meant for the GBA), but also some (obscure) indie titles.
Another Wiki page shows a lot more titles...
Good point...probably not when using plain USB webcams. While there are technically two USB ports on the Pandora, only one of them can deliver the power to drive a retail type webcam. The other one would have to have it's own power supply with batteries or even a mains adaptor. That setup would...
