I wanted to see what a metal casing would look like but I think I went slightly overboard with this one :P Larger image

It would be nice if the OMAP3430 is using the SGX530. It has an effective fill rate of 1200M pixels/s and 13.5M polygons/s. It's not the highest mobile SGX but has more than enough power for our uses IMO. i.MX31 comparison: 135M pixels/s and 1.7M polygons/s

Actually white would be easier on the eyes. The contrast between the light from the LCD and a black frame is bad for your eyes. That's why most monitors are grey or silver. To reduce eye strain. Black monitors are just popular because they look "flashy" :P ;)

You mean like this? I assume it's because you want the buttons grouped together. But is it comfortable having the analogue sticks that low though? You'll probably be using those extra four buttons least of all controls. So why give them placement priority? I'm no gamepad expert, just curious :)...

Yeah, the scale isn't right. It was just a quick cut&paste job. The buttons should be 9mm which is slightly larger than the psp...I guess I should edit the picture :)

The idea was to show the possible dimensions of the final device, I would guess that it'll end up being approximately the size of a GP2X, but without the battery area bump :) I took the liberty to improve the brightness a bit  ;) Edit: Correct scale

Wow, those images are daaark! I had to increase the brightness by 150% before I could begin to see anything :D

I had no idea what a z-trigger was (had to look it up). And I'm still trying to visualize it... I assume you would use your forefingers for the shoulder buttons and your middle fingers for the z-triggers? I think it would actually work pretty well if you placed them exactly right. You would have...

It's a nice design. Similar to mine but looks cooler because the screen covers almost the entire front. Did you consider the scale of things though? The screen is 4.3" and only 53mm in height which is the same as on the GP2X. When shrinking the height of the device like that you also have to...

I think it would be possible to fit two analogue controls and still maintain a reasonable level of "vertical playability" ;) Something like this perhaps. Two analogue nubs (or sticks) on each side, a dpad and plenty of buttons: Larger image

Apparently the OMAP2430 should be considered a low cost alternative rather than a superior to the OMAP2420. The OMAP 2420 has the "full" PowerVR MBX/VGP, while OMAP 2430 only has Lite versions. So the 2420 will be much superior in 3D performance. This is maybe not so obvious at first glance...

Did this design before I saw Craigix post. But it only has one analog. Oh well, at least I had fun

You could always add gp32 style tits :D It would also make the unit more comfortable to hold ;)

    How Much Is The F-200?

Hopefully they wont increase the price much for just a d-pad and a touch screen.

Unfortunately it's unknown because we don't know which PowerVR SGX core the OMAP3430 is using (Jadon said he would be happy to tell us the correct performance numbers once the information is public). But there's not even a working full speed GC emulator for PC anyway so forget it.
