I'm thinking of building a CaSTaway versoin with chatboard support; if theres a lot of interest, I may port Frotz over for Infocom style adventure games (text adventures) (though most of them are playable in CaSTaway already ;)

Just gauging interest, as my time is really tight..

Wowsers skeezix, you are one busy man at the moment!
Reading your posts on zodiacgamer, then i pop over here and your offering to exploit yourself even more!

Happy Birthday BTW! :D

I would have a chatboard by now if Zenocha (sp) actually made them :(. I have one reserved, but I haven't heard anything about it. I'd write a notepad thingy if I had one :)

you can still make it yourself :
you just need a nec 21i AC/DC charger and a CHA01
then solder 4 wires and thats all...
I managed to do that without any probs;)

see you

btw : happy birthday :D

yeah I would buy one if someone was actually making them.

looks like zenocha isn't doing it anymore :(

I made 2 chatboards for myself, and I would really love to see some apps that actually use them. I think that once some of the major emulators start using the Chatboards, more people will want chatboards and more authors will support them. Hopefully, it will be a snowball effect, but it has to start somewhere.

I have a chatboard, and nothing to do with it.

I like the idea of having an old computer that could text edit, play old command text games, and still look good on the gp32.

This would be great, castaway is only games without it.

Well, I haven't modded the chat-board, but I have got one lying around someplace from my old Ericsson phone... Didn't actually have any reason to mod it.

BTW is it a hard thing to include support for, because I can think of a couple of emulators it could be useful for?

does that mean my soldering has held up this long?
heh

I've never actually tried the one I got .. just no time :( But I'm hoping to get my laptop setup for GP32 coding so I can do it on the road and then I should be able to slip a few hours in to get this going. I woudl hope it wouldnt' be more than a few hours to get the thing working halfway right :)

We'll see :)

I've honestly not looked yet; I'm hoping spiv's driver code is plug and play.. ie: I'd like to just all a function to see if theres a character or activity on the line, and a function to obtain the proverbial character or activity; if it involves handshaking, okay, but I'm really not looking forward to talking to the hardware and doing all sorts of goofy register manipulation if it has to go that far.. hopefully spiv did all the vicious stuff.. I just don't have too much time, but I want to do my part of pushing the chatboard :) So we'll see :)

I guess a lot of people (me included) are waiting for the chatboards from Zenocha. He posted some time ago:

Hi guys and gals just a quick note that i havent actally disappeared off the face of the planet and i still plan to sell the chatboards. However again i must apologise that it wont be for a couple of months, I have been very busy for the past months and have barely touch my GP32. I wil be busy until around mid June, after that ill get right onto the chatboards and they should be ready very quickly :)
This is just a quick reminder so you lot dont lose hope. I also noticed skimming through the forums today that theres been a bit of negativity about me not selling them and can i just reitterate that i have not and will not take any money until the chatboards are ready to ship.

Anyway till June you bid you farewell and thanks for the support. :p

Nice one jeff - this would add a whole new dimension to castaway if you can do it, I definately want a chatboard just to see what it can do, and those infocom games would be cool too
