Must say, although I found the GP32 SDK easy to use, I find Mirkos SDK better simply due to the fact of open source - if something doesn't work, you can find out why and correct it. Later on, you can optimize the code.
The functions missing can normally quite easily be created, we just need to create more generic versions so Mirko can include them in his SDK rather than reinventing them for each project that requires them.
So yes, I agree with Akuma no Houkon.
