I don't know if this has been brought up before but here goes. http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1 This is the site, they have the source code and everything for it. So does anyone think that this would be possible? They also have frontends made for it so you could pick what you wanted to play. I think this would be a very nice program for the gp32.

I proposed that before (as many others did) and the result was that it was not possible because it needs a 700MhZ-CPU to emulate the lamest games. It just wont work on GP32. :(

i also went in to this..you should read some of the older thred's on the subject...
how about merging them rico.....

I still reckon it should be done. A lot of great games came out on the old (086 to 286) architecture PC. And many PC games have configuration systems to switch off fancy effects. I don't demand Half Life 2 or Doom 3, it just might be nice to play Civilization 1.

Xenon 2 ran on an 086 and it also runs on Castaway.
The PC (corewise) isn't all that different to an ST (major CPU, minor other stuff).

Perhaps 086 and 286 would be possible, but not with dos box, it uses 'really' bloaty code, you would need a whole new emu, and alomst without exception, GP emu's are based prior source that is at least semi fast :( would be nice though. (myself i'd prefer an Amiga emu ;) ) BTW there's apretty good version of CIV for the ST, as well as defender of rome and a host of other early strategy games, you might miss out on some PC greats, but a few are there.

VDMS is not a full emulator - it uses the Windows DOS core and emulates what Micro$oft left out (e.g. soundblaster, joystick, etc.)
