Okay, I've been trying to mod my non-FLU into a FLU for awhile now.

The biggest problem I've gotten is theres no place inside for the LED I'm trying to use ( I don't have the money to buy a new FL screen to replace the GP32's ).

I have already taken it apart 3 times, and I know where to attach the wires for the light.

So, I'm thinking I could rip out the power indicator LED and have the wires for my FL go through the hole. Will I need to put a resistor on the power LED's circuit? Or will it be okay?

After I get the wires out, I'm going to cut away part of the frame around the screen and mount the light there ( with some glue ).

Think it could work? Any words of advice?

hm, i don't think you will have good results with one single led.
the flu is a rectangle piece of plastic (in the size of the screen) and the light shines from the side into this piece of plastic.
and this flu-screen reflects the light to only one side (to the lcd-screen, of course) and not to the players side.

the only thing i could image to build a flu is to use a layer, wich can emitt light. i have seen some in a case-modding magazine, but for another use, of course.

if you use a single led, the screen will be very bright next to the led, and very dark away from the led....

Actually, I'm going for an external light (above the protective screen). I'm going to tilt it downward a bit and cover the top of it with a reflective material.

I don't care if the top of the screen is better lit than the bottom, just as long as the whole screen is lit.

I'm worried that I'm gonna get to much reflection of the protective screen... lemme go try it out...

You'll need to use a multimeter to measure what voltage is being supplied to the power LED when its lit and then work out what size resistor you will need for your LED based upon its operational voltage range, otherwise you might run the risk of slowly (or instantly) burning out your LED(s) if they are having too much juice pumped into them.

Good luck, i just bought a flu instead made life easier, u cud ask mash mods i think they do a flu for gp32 im not sure, unless ur doin it for the challenge,
good luck neway

I would Stop right now and forget about making it... It would be easier and safer and look nicer just to make a Worm Light :D... Mine Works Perfectly...

ohhh, someone thinks that he is a cool h4x0r...like me :) well, just using an led is out, ok, i know i thing to 2 (more than that surel...) about lighting lcds... what you are doing is pretty pointless.. keep in mind that the light needs to spread over ALL of the screen, not just a small portion of the middle, and to do that you would need some type of diffuser that would spread it out and not give it glare. 1 led SURELY isn't enuff for this...

once i am done with my flu mod (i am QUITE busy right now, building speakers...)i will post a shiznit load of pics :)

AND LOSE THAT GODDAMNED SIGNATURE!!! IT MAKES MY EYES F^*&ING CRY UNTIL BLOOD COMES OU!!!!

Exactally. :)

Just use firefox and it takes about 0.5 seconds to block that signature.
