Whatever Happened To The Chatboard Keyboards?

Well i have 6 Chatboards at home that i brought but i dont have the plug for the gp32.

If someone knows where i could get 1 thats easy for an aussie to buy or if one of you have some you could sell me please know i really wanna make the chatboard.

Maybe someone from the uk who could easily get it for me will do it ;) wink wink nudge nudge :D

i can get cha-01 ver VERY cheap, i had pland to solder 20 of them,
i havr contaktet 2 companys in korea for the ext plugs, i wanne buy 30 of them but never recived a answer, and the guy who have pland to make them (zenchoa) wont say me the company where he had get his plugs.
if i can get plugs i can sell chatboards in germany for ~7-10? or selvmade kits for less

ps: have somone some plugs left to send me?

what are the uses for them?
I believe ericson makes them, and some guy a while back was modding them to plug into the gp32 extension port. The gp32 linux project could deffinitely benefit from it.

The connector looks like a cell phone plug for Samsung cellphones, I was hoping to check this out at my local cell shop, but never got around to it! I am not definite on the plug, though it may be different. One definite way is steal one from a RF unit, but that would be a waste!

I put my name down for one too, but Zenocha hasn't even posted here for at least a month.

Don't think it would be wise to give money to someone who isn't even on the scene anymore....

Shame because this could have kicked up some good shit... might never happen now since none of the developers recieved one

:(

Damn, stop posting such bullshit. Zenocha NEVER asked for any money in advance. He said he'd take the money as soon as he done the mods. Last thing I heard was that he was very busy in real life, and what should I say, I trust him. If he wanted to go for your money, he would have done it any other way.

I asked one of the Korean companies about buying the connectors but was told there was a minimum order of 10,000 or something like that :/

In the end I bought 2 x Samsung T100 data cables off eBay, serial port at one end and connector at the other (bit of fiddling in the connector and you've got a ready made JTAG cable, or put a serial port into the CHA-01 and you can attach such mobile phone cables to the keyboard quite nicely with a bit of rewiring in the connector).

While I was hunting for places to buy the connectors from before I decided on eBay, I found this site that sells them:

http://www.gsm-technology.com/index.php/en...,id_pr,248.html

They ship internationally, although tbh, the connectors are quite expensive when you consider I got both my data cables with connectors off eBay for about £4.

Also, shipping to the UK costs ~£20! Ouch!
Shipping to Australia = ~£27! OUCH! OUCH!

Also, if you look at this (UK) eBay auction:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...&category=42412

I think the data cable has the correct connector. That data cable part number (PCB037DBE - just searched for this on eBay and there 2 other data cables with that part number, both less than £2.50 if no one else bids :D) is the same number that is on both my data cables. There are some suitable cables on eBay that are overpriced though (A good picture of the cable however):

A bit of clever searching will find you cheap ones however.

A better picture of that data cable, you can clearly see the connector:

I think he was just saying that Zenocha would create the goods before he actually sold them, and so was not asking for money in advance.

Yup, just because I used the term "bullshit" doesn't turn my post into a flame. ;)
See, if he wanted to cheat on you he'd asked for money in advance. You have no legal buyer's contract (or whatever the correct english term is), so there's no set date for an arrival of the goods.
The point is, I just don't think it is fair to tell other people not to give him money in public.

i have a chatboard and a mobile phone adapter with the correct plug on it. Cost me <£5 from ebay for both.

I talked to Zenocha at the time he was thinking about selling the chatboards, he gave me some hints so now I have a modded chatboard which works fine, though there is no software for it yet. I also spoke with the guy who released the latest version of Sarien and he added sort of support, which unfortunately does not work. So far I have made a really simple utility, sort of text editor, you can but write letters one by one, no enter yet ;) A little odd thing about the chatboards is with they need to be initialized by pressing the sms key and all the functional keys seem to freeze for awhile, which is connected with the original purpose of the chatboards.
For the connector, it was not that difficult to obtain it, I simply found a larger service of mobile phones and bought just the connector for about 3 EUR. If anyone is interested, I can try to find the company again and give a link, but I am not sure if they would send parcles abroad...

I used the plug from a Samsung mobile phone hands-free kit. You may get one free from a dealer of service agent as these things break down easily if you actually use them. Using the plug works OK but you may need to be good at soldering etc.
