Hi all! Maybe someone else already ask you this, but I'd really like to have your help in my decision...
I'm considering buying the GP32 system (especially for emulation) but I'd like to know from you all if it's really worth buying? I mean, is the 128MB smart media cards somewhat limitating? Is there someone among you regretful?

Please let me know your thoughs...

Thank you all, bye... ;)

yes.

The only regret i have is that i didnt buy one sooner

SMC are not really limiting

Yes worth every penny (FLU)

No regrets, if this thing manages to survive the years ahead I will continue to use it because it does its job well in my opinion.

Limiting? not at all, most games load quickly and few roms are so huge that they'd eat up a lot of room (biggest working rom I have is maybe 3-4 mb) on a 128. You might want to have 2 SMCs if you have a lot of games you want to try or if you get into encoding videos to watch on the go or MP3s.

As for your question. The 8 bit systems(NES, SMS, gamegear) have the best emmulation right now followed closely by the TG16/PCE and SNES which need a bit more work and genesis which depending on if you use the fGen emmulator is better in some cases than others but needs the most work of the 16 bit systems... I havent tried and of the commodore or atari emmulators(which I hear most run rather well) but even without them I'm not regretful at all.

If you really want emulation and money isn't a real problem, consider the Zodiac. Although it costs from $300 to $400, it is a lot faster and more powerful. Although the emulation scene is just getting started for the Zodiac, you can expect some top notch emulation (OpenSNES9xZ will easily be full speed and there is also a GBA emulator in the works by CrimsonFire). If the price for the Zodiac is way out of your budget, no need to worry! The GP32 also has great emulation.

you wont be disapointed!

i have bith GP and GBA and the GP gets much more attention - theres sooooo much this little system does, you aint gonna get board of it.

corse its bloody worth buying! would there b so many people posting on this board everyday if they bought it and wish they hadnt?!
It does get frustrating. Bit daft asking if a GP32 is any good in a GP32 forum really. Seriously though yes it's a great system if you like the thought of 8 bit and 16 bit emulation on a handheld. If you're after commercial games look elsewhere.

Actually it'd make sense to ask a bunch of owners if they;re saticefied with it, the thing is you have to filter out the resasonable responses from the ones that might seem to show unbending biased loyalty.(or fanboishness) You can get very faithful information is you just know how to read the responses.

I'm very satisfied with it. VERY.

I just hope coding continues with it... We really, really need more emulators and my only fear is the GP32 dying out. Which I sure as hell hope it doesn't any time soon.

To me, there's nothing like hearing the drums to the start of 'Test Drive', or seeing the words "Debug this, Sunshine!!" playing Gridrunner on the ST

Ahhhhh happy memories.

Just keep (or buy one if u dun have one) ur GBA. Gp32 is only worth it if ur a hardcore retro gamer, willing to wait for updates for emus, and willing to ask the same question on this forum three times a day.

If you like playing games from the 16 bit - 8 bit generation then by all means you'll love it.

I'm a little dissapointed however.. the lack of commercial games surprises and annoys me completely, i really hope us UK people get the system launched... it should get alot of commercial game released ( I HOPE ).

Maybe i should have bought a GBA im not sure, thats just me.. anyway i think ill wait for the next generation of handhelds

Love the Gp32. Worth every penny. I can play all of my snes, nes, genesis (sort of), pc engine, doom and watch movies. Also buy the FLU. (Front Light Unit)

So many times people ask this question. Of course the Gp32 is worth buying, some may have regrets but many do not. This system will last for the long run, You won't get bored of it, ever, Watch movies on it, Is the 128 smc limiting? It is but what isnt, its not like you cant buy 2-3, which is enough, one for few episodes of family guy or simpsons, one for emulators and roms, one for homebrew and commercial games. The Zodiac does have much more than the gp32 in power wise, but youd might as well save up for psp or xbox one, no nintendo.... Just no. Yeah but if you want the emulation, mp3s, homebrew games, community, then get the gp32.
