I was wondering if emulators can ever be written directly for a game off a system. You no like the DC, PS emulators that ran different types of games. Would this allow some games that are basically the most popular on the system to have a one off emu for that game ? Would this lead to a better speed if all features of the emu were written for that game + for just the performance of that 1 game ?

Reaper did one-off versions of Mame for the Dreamcast. He'd strip out all the unused cpu drivers and put together a high speed system specific core. The only way to get the DC quick enough to play some mame games (and probably similar to what the GP will need to do due to ram restrictions).
