Post Counts Disabled

Do you really think that turning off post counts was a good thing?

I personally think it's a good thing. I mean, members who help other's members and are friendly will get respect over the boards because of what they have done, not because of the amount of spam they post.

But will new members know who to listen to and who not to? Surely any member who will spend his time posting on the forums is a valid one?

I voted yes, but only because you missed off the option for 'I hadn't even noticed they'd gone because post counts are completly pointless with people doing pc+1 all the time'

I'm not going to name names, but there are several people whos post counts will destroy that argument completly :) I'd say that length of time on a forum is much more important than number of posts.

Arch Chancellor of UU eh? I hope you're wearing your hat ;)

hmmm, why did you change your title? I quite liked the discworld one :(

post counts are gone? didnt even notice. fine for me because i never looked at them anyway.

At the risk of sounding repetitive...

Sorry woogal, but your post was pretty much spot on! :)

That's got to be my all time favorite post :)

Anyway, ever since I talked to Rico I've supported the no-post-count idea, but I like to get people thinking by arguing against them :)

Well, I think that the post count of a member is useful because *most* members post meaningful posts and don't spam (the ones who do, usually are banned before they can reach a high post count). A person who posted a good amount of meaningful posts will gain the other member's trust more than a person with less than 20 posts.

i just noticed when i saw this thread :p. who cares to be honest

Edit: and i also agree with woogal about length of time on the board. those guys whov been here longer come out with far less cra than i do :p

Post count's just make people big headed. I usualy turn them off on my forums. it only shows how much someone will post silly little responses to posts. now people won't post unless they can help instead of the I dunno replys or ask someone else.

CAN'T SAY I NOTICED!!!!

I HAD 1200 POSTS YOU B*******S WTF???? <_<

Er, I voted yes....

See you

I really couldn't care that they're disabled, a lot of times it's just a hollow excuse for someone to claim their point is more valid just because theyhave a higer post count. Combined with the whole pc+1 buisness it's a much better situation without them.

mhh whats my member number?

168 woooohooo now that deserves some credit.

i know, i know there 167 users older than me.

I think that some people just go to GP32 extreme, sign up, post once or twice, and then leave. I belive it is important to give more recognition to people who are serious members and take time to help the GP32 community!

Uh... I voted No

I've been a member of this forum for about a year now and only done about 150 posts but I have noticed that alot of dudes who have high post counts seem to be just doing ME TOO posts or pointless comments.Maybe now we don't have post counts people will just make comments that are worthwhile.
