Got my GP32 today, and for the first hour or so it was working fine. But then I started to notice that every so often when I connected it to my PC and started it up, it would pop up a message saying that there was a problem with the USB device. Tried rebooting my PC and that seemed to solve it, but it's started doing it again and I can't get it to connect right.

Read on here that there's a problem with the rubber round the connector cable that sometimes causes it not to make a good connection. But i'm sure I also read somewhere that using the multifirmware also causes problems with Win XP (<could be wrong with that)

If there is a common problem with it then that's ok, I just don't want my GP32 to be having problems after only a few hours, and I also don't want to start mucking about with the connector cable if it is actually faulty.

I'm doing ok so far so, i've got my digicamera rigged up as a temp. card writer just now. It's not perfect but it'll do for now till I find out what exactly is the problem.

Just a suggestion - I always connect in the following order :-
1. USB to PC
2. USB to GP32 (push cable in well and make sure it's not pulling on the GP32)
3. Power on GP32 and select the Link icon
4. When GP32 says "Now waiting..." start the PC Link software.

i dont think its the multifirmware because i have multifirmware (and windows XP) and had no problems

does it say unfamiliar usb or something (then you need the driver)

Don't forget the new Gamepark beta firmware comes with "GP Manager" which is a better version of PC Link. You don't have to use the beta firmware however to use GP Manager - it'll work with the original fw well enough (well, much better than the original PC Link, anyway!)

I've come to the conclusion that's it's just something to do with the cable. It works every so often, when it doesn't it comes up saying "Windows can't regonize the USB device". Got the driver loaded already though...and I can try it ten minutes or so later and it'll work fine,

But the wee setup i've got with my digicamera is working well. It's also a hell of a lot faster than using the GP32 itself so it's worked out ok.
