Hey all i think it would be cewl if we had a .PDF viewer so we can read all the new gp32:zine Magazines on the bus and stuff. I dunno if it would be possible nor if its open source its just an idea.

Im not completely sure but i diught it would be possible as there are companys thta have a pdf,But there are free versions. I suppose it would be like .TXT
, Where people have made the txt viewers. i would be good in a format like M$ Publisher where you can zoom in and zoom out.Then we could easily be able to read and look at the pictures. I thinjk it would really suit having a pdf and reading GP32:Zine on the go.

It would be very difficult to read... not to mention slow.

I had a PDF reader on my 75MHz 640x240 screen pda and it was not pleasant.

Yes but theese are for the OS of phones therefore it would make it harder thn it actually is for the GP32. Like the .txt viewer (Correct me if im wrong) was written from scratch.

@blipped4
I guess you replied to the wrong post ;)

Back to topic:

Yes a pdf reader would be really cool, there are lots of e-books in .pdf if someone could do something like that, it would be really cool (not that I can't read a real book, but some stuff is easier to get as a e-book)

I think Post Script would be easier, although I know very little about .pdf. Pdf files are easy to convert to PostScript though.

The main problem is that it requires a lot of floating point, and you can't really get round it with fixed point arithmetic. That most ps/pdf are made for a5 or a4, and you wouldn't be able to shrink that down to the gp32's screen and keep it readable easily.

Don't forget that there is a version of Acrobat Reader for PalmOS, and the screens on Palms are 160x160, if memory serves.
