Hello.

I just got my new GP32 up and running, and have the MultiFirmWare from GBAX installed. Part of this is Wind-Ups, which looks like it could be really cool, but each time I set up the icons etc and 'Save Desktop', it promptly forgets everything next time I switch it on.

Now, don't get me wrong, Wind-Ups is obviously full of potential, but what good is it if it forgets everything? Other people must have solved this, so does anyone have any suggestions?

I have read other posts on this, but there doesn't seem to be a concensus on what to do...

Thereis also a windups FXE that you need to put in your GPMM folder.

You can probably get it from this site...

no, he says he has the winups from a multifirmware. But you need to go to the winups Homepage and download the .fpk File and install it to your SMC. it should work then.

you must(in gpmm) make a folder with a config file like this windups.cfg:

// ############################
// Config file for Wind-ups
// ############################

// File to use as background
// ------------------------------

gp:\gpmm\wind-upsimgs\Bg\bg01.gif

// Icons list to show in the background
// <icon file>,<x pos>,<y pos>,<app file>,<app name to show in background>
// ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

gp:\gpmm\wind-upsimgs\icons\gp.gif,20,8,[MYGP32],My GP32

gp:\gpmm\wind-upsimgs\icons\kreader.gif,20,56,[KREADER],kReader

gp:\gpmm\wind-upsimgs\icons\age2k.gif,20,104,[AGE2K],Age2k

gp:\gpmm\wind-upsimgs\icons\3dviewer.gif,20,152,[3DVIEWER],Viewer

gp:\gpmm\wind-upsimgs\icons\keditor.gif,20,196,[KEDITOR],kEditor

gp:\gpmm\wind-upsimgs\icons\gp02.gif,80,10,gp:\gpmm\gpdoomv9\gpdoom.fxe,DOOMv9

gp:\gpmm\wind-upsimgs\icons\opensn~1.gif,143,11,gp:\gpmm\os9xgp.fxe,OS9XGP

gp:\gpmm\wind-upsimgs\icons\gp02.gif,81,55,gp:\gpmm\kof91.fxe,KOF91

than you must make the same folder and save there any icon pic s Bg or txt

Ive registered at gp32world.co.uk and they havent sent me the email, its been half an hour, what to do? I want bg's and icons, is there anywhere i can get them?

yes, you could make them yourself. Just ciópy over one of the BG´s from the IMGS folder on your SMC and apply the Pallete to your Favourite Windows BG and resize it to 320x240 Pixels.

Thanks for the advice, I have a .FXE file i downloaded from the site and put in GPMM but it doesn't work. I think it may be a different version though. Otherwise, what is the FPK file? By installing do you mean altering the firmware at all?

sorry to sound a bit dumb but how do you apply the palette to another pic :blink:

Yes, I think that will solve the problem. Just download the .fpk and install it. If not, maybe there's a problem with the Wind-ups when it's loaded as a bios. I have mine as a fxe file, so I cannot check it yet!

And don't worry, installing that fpk you won't modify the bios at all.

Hope that helps,

OK - Now I'm going to sound REALLY dumb...

What do you do with the FPK file? I am using Pacrom, and I can click to run it but nothing happens. How are you supposed to use it?

FPK files are installed using PClink, I understand that you're using a mac so apologies if this doesn't suit, but you link your GP32 via cable and then run PC link, then go to file and then install and then direct to the fpk. PClink ( or the mac equivalent) should do the rest.

That's the part I can't do - I can only use the SMC reader to move files between my Mac and the GP32.

Is there any way around this? I bought my GP32 from GBAX with Windups as part of the Multi-Firmware inclusion so I can't believe I'm never going to actually be able to use it properly!

I'm using Pacrom at the moment but windups would be so much better if I could get it going. Can't get CaSTaway to work either - Thank God for Frodo!

FPKs are like ZIP files, in PClink click on File and then Install. For the pallete question you can get paintshop pro or adobe pallete files (from gp32spain for example) and shove them in the correct directory on your computer eg. jasc\paintshoppro\palletes or something similar. Then when you edit a picture to 320 x 240 resolution it should work ok. For windups, the files needs to be a non-interlaced gif, and for Aquafish they need to be a 24bit BMP file. Hope this helps everybody...
