OGG ripper/encoders

for ripping i use CDex, its a good tool, and gets the real songnames from the inet.
but im still searching for a tool that converts mp3 to ogg..

You can do that with CDex.
Just make sure your export ecoding settings are set to OGG and go to

convert < Re-encode Compressed audio file(s)

Just select your MP3's and they will appear in your export folder as ogg's.

I use EAC (Exact Audio Copy) for ripping, it supports OGG encoding but I only use MP3 so can't comment on that. It's free, supports external encoders, supports freedb-lookup and has a ton of 'hidden' editing-options but the main reason I use it is because it's the best ripper I know, it even restores damaged tracks if/when possible.

whats the smallest that you can compress a song to? Im looking for software that can compress the hell out of a Audio file :D Im not bothered about quality hehe...

i just got 5,04 mb mp3 file to 1,254 mb ogg file :D

its not hell much, but enough for me ;)

umm yes the quality is the same like in the mp3 one.

Win Lame ogg encoder is free and IT is the best I have seen out there. Also... its the only one I ever need to use for audio encoding purposes.

Whats the lowest Kilo Bit rate.... do you use when you encode to ogg till quality is degraded?? I know when encoding a MP3 the KBr is about 92 or so when it starts breaking down. What about ogg??

DAMN thats sweet!! 64 bitrate?? wow...thanks for the reply....I ll give it a try.

Ogg drop's good for quick and easy conversion for groups of files, but the XP specific versions seems a bit unstable. Anyone else found this or is it just my pc being a bunch of ass? It's handy if you want to convert a load of mp3s to oggs. Drop them on to convert from mp3 to wav, then drop the waves on to convert them to oggs. Jace
