Duke Nuk'em 3d

it's right that the source is needed, but the conception of the game has to be "portable" and in this case it's quite hard (from what i heard) of course seeing duke nukem gfx u could say our little gp could handle it easily, but the thing is that this game use floating point which r very hard to port since the gp doesn't have a fpu, so it would be a massive port, and noone is enough courageous or have enough time to do it, clearly, it's reachable but very very very hard to do. too bad (by the way)

quake could be ported but because of the same reason given above that would take to much time

I wish people would quit asking for Duke Nukem 3d, it will never happen unless someone can figure out how to account all the buttons that are used on the keyboard to be used in 4 action buttons on the GP32. Even the graphics engine and sure size of the game cannot be ported, unless we're only talking about the shareware version.

We could just make a Duke Nukem 3D player.

Sorry Blipped, I just couldn't help myself on that one. No hard feelings...

Controls are no problem:

Control Stick: Move left/right/forware/back
Control Stick + Select: Look up, down, move inventory left right.
L/R+Select: Weapon change
L/R: Strafe Left/Right
A: Shoot
B: Jump
Select: Activate
Select+A: Use Item
Select+B: Spare
L+R: Duck
Select+Start: Automap

Ding! Everything is taken care of!

Yeah, controls should be no problem if ya work around it with button combos.. look at Craig's DOOM/DOOM II port.. they require a lotta keys on a comp, but he's worked his way round to making it managable, and all you're using is 6 buttons (including start/select) and a controller stick to play it :)

I guess thats the reason why there is a duke nukem on the so-much-more-button-having gba.

Swiss_Cheeseman, thats a good config.. with that it would be no problem to play..
but still there isnt one coder really intrested in this :(

Hopefully craigx may pick it up. There is an SDL port out, and it has all x86 ASM code taken out, which should make the port much easier, however, theres still the floating point code.

From what I can tell, though, I'm not sure how much it has, or even if it has any, as the Dreamcast port runs pretty well and has a very weak FPU.

I think craig while discussing the possibilities of this game said only the first chapter would be possible because of a lack of ram in the gp32. apparently the 1st chapter is fine with 8 but the second and third need 16. They ran on 8mb pcs because of the pcs virtual memory, but dont quote me on this, this is an extremly vague reccollection.
