Interview with european Mitsui distributor

thats my main worry is whether the gp32 european games will work on the korean version.

i think its a mistake...
the only difference between the original and the europeen is the bios i think (and hope)
ar im very intrested in the third party games... hope some great games are under them ;)

thats insane, us not getting european bios

Shane smacks gp32animefreak, let us not speak of it again, but seriously why get a fixed bios its still going to suck like the other one, go for multifirmware.

Actually, I could've sworn the GP32's "base" clock is 40MHz, but most demanding applications (i.e. emulators) use the "official" limit of 133MHz. Most GP32's can handle 150 and/or 156MHz-overclocked programs too.

On a worse note, it looks like there is/will be another shortage of GP32s with the European launch looming...link. (Japanese)

base gp32 speed is 40 Mhz, but some games (like little wizards) run at 66Mhz, while homebrew stuff is anywhere from 40-166 usually

also if the dont release the new bios official for all others, there will be a dump just after 1 hour :)

but it still think that mitsui will suppot us importers so.. i think the new firmware will be available for us, perhaps not right after the release but after some time.

bye

I don't think we have to worry about european games not working on our GP32s.

why?
Why would they make the european games only work with the european GP32s when the majority of the gp32s are korean.

The fear of every console is piracy. It's a fact that most consoles are sold at a loss (I've seen estimates that xBoxes cost up to $400 to make). Console makers do this because they make so much money back on their games.

If the european launch can figure out a way to lock games to a specific SMC card, then they can cut out any piracy of their games. There will always be people trying to crack copy protection, but that hasn't stopped companies from trying.

actually, that page has been confirmed to say that there will be a shortage of GP32's in South Korea due to the European release.
