Hhi there, I have had my GP2X for about 2 months now and it's all good! I can watch my little movies and listen to what I want to listen to while driving to work in the mornings.. not the shitty radio!! 1GB worth of uninterupted Rock ... Iron Maiden included..hee hee

Problem is when I want to look at the other features that are opening up to me on this platform.. I would abviously like to play more video formats..this is slowly being dealt with, so thats cool.. The Mplayer beta is out and i want to try that, but I cannot seem to see the .gpe file when I enter the utilities menu? what gives? also the flash player does not seem to show up or the LCD - CPU tweaker either, yet they are there on the stick if I look into the folders with explorer!

If anyone has any ideas why this is, please could you let me know a.s.a.p!!

I am using the very nice Monty Python skin if this helps! I'll try it with another skin and report my findings, but if anyone has a clue what is going on, please reply to this post!

regards

minton

A *.gpe file will appear under the games menu and a *.gpu will appear under utilities.

i.e. just rename it to mplayer.gpu and it should show up :)

Thanks,

Have managed to get the mplayer to load.. NeoGEo interface? what uo with that and how do I get a video file to play?

Why was the files that didn't work given a .gpe extention in the first place??

each menu shows a different file extension. .gpe is games, .gpu is utilities. there is no real difference in the files.

Apart from in how the programs are executed:

.gpe: The menu program is terminated to give the program as much free memory / resources as possible, this requires that the program re-runs the menu just before exiting.

.gpu: The menu is just paused until the program finishes (or is forked off as a background task) in this case the program should not run the menu when exiting.
