my gpx2 came about 4 days ago,it didnt come with the sdcard, and my tvout cable came in the form on a black case,i foned them up and i got both my sdcard and tvout cable today,

the next problem is im told i have to buy a card reader becouse the gpx2 doesnt even fucking connect

and just now its died on me,it was connected to the pc even though that does absolutely nothing, and now it wont boot up properly teh screen is all weird like when you tune a tv in,oh and it can suck up a full set of batterys in 5 mins

fuck this retarded shit,i was hoping for some streets of rage on the move, ive lost my patience with it,im going back to nintendos handhelds, gamepark holdings have failed me misserably,i knowthis is on the wrong furum but what teh hell im outta here

It's the battery. When batteries go empty, they make a garbled screen.

You should learn to have some patience, though. The GP2x wasn't meant for people without any patience. It's a homebrew handheld which gives you enormous freedom, not some PSP that only allows you to buy games or something like that...

Just replace the batteries with nice fully-charged NiMh AA (1800+ mah) batteries and you'll be fine.

Welcome to the least user friendly handheld on the market. Hope you enjoyed your stay, please come again.

Seriously, 2 things happened:

Either you need 2500 mAh rechargable batteries,

or it sounds like you shook it. Or it shorted somehow, like using an improper AC adapter.

In any case, this is Linux. We fiddle with things, and it requires enough knowledge to be able to at least search and find the answers you need, or be able to figure it out for yourself (I've asked very few questions on here and have tried every software), and not let out your frustration on us. You can still ask us if you are stumpted, but otherwise, this is not the GP2X support line. We don't get paid to do this.

i treid new batterys i have the same problem,i think its shorted becouse its making a weird fizzing sound when i roll the batteries,i hit it with the force of 10 thousand men now its dead, peice of shit was useless,i was looking forward to the homebrew and emulation scene but i think il leave that to my pc,i hope u all enjoy your gpx2s im gladly going back to the happy and legal nintendo way of life (lets face it were all breaking all the law with roms)

What a waste, what a waste...

If you really broke it yourself, then good job. You are a neanderthal that can't take a little fiddling and patience if it doesn't work immediatly.

You just wasted $250+ on a handheld that probably had no problems at all except YOU. I hope you feel proud of your conquest of man vs machine.

Good day sir.

Some batteries might not work with the GP2x properly, since they have wrong voltages (too low) and therefore can't operate the GP2x properly.

Just try it out with a new set of batteries, proper NiMH ones with high-enough voltage and amperage.

..but I guess you're not really bothering doing that anyways, since your first and second thread were a little over one hour away from eachother...

not only do i feel proud,i feel replenished from holding that peice of shit,it was long dead before i hit it,stupid screen wont display anythign so i finished it off,the peice of shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just buy some recharchable batteries. If you would have got enough information about this handheld before you bought it, you would have known that it eats the standart batteries and that you'll have to use recharchebles. And honestly, please re-reaed your post before you click on the 'Add New Post' button. English isn't my motherlanguage and it's really really hard to read your posts. Thank You.

haha, the GP2X scene is weird. You can find the best coders, but also the worst trolls ^^.
Just kidding, glad to see didn't crush you unit with a hammer.
You should hace buyed an adaptator, the official one is expensive, but i am sure you can find some cheaper (but be warned : the polarity is the oposite of the "normal" one, and you need to deliver at least 1 A, thats why i bough the oficial one...)

your english is actualy better than mine :D well im stil faced with the problem of connecting the dam thing to the pc,seen as im pissing every1 off il work it out for myself

yeah your old batteries are still probablly good too, the drop off rate on alkalines are different from NiMH. The alkalines start to drop off slowly(dropping below a usable rate in the gp2x) as NiHM stay at a high end until they just drop off(until the battery dies). Your alkalines will most likely still work in other devices such as remotes and things. :p its all on the wikipedia.
