I bought a TV-Out thingy from gp2x.co.uk and I just got it today. But my crappy TV doesn't look like it can handle it for some reason. I was wondering what this guy was using in this video:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=44...0948&q=gp2x

I tried doing what he did by puting one end of a cable just like that to my gp2x, then one other end to my TV (This cable is supposed to be for digital cameras). It still didn't show up on my TV, so i'm wondering what exactly this person is using.

If you still recommend me using the TV-Out cable, is there a diagram of how to set it up? Because it's downright imposible for a n00b to this do type of stuff to understand by just reading everything. :p I looked at the gp2x wiki, the gamepark site, i'm having no luck understanding what I need and how I connect it (hence why I think diagrams would work better for me).

Hope this doesn't get in someone's way, I tried searching on this forum but the search hates seperate words under 4 characters. :S

EDIT: Oh no, now I just noticed the guy in the video has both that cable in his headphone jack, AND the TV Out thing in the EXT port. =(. Now I DEFINATELY hope I don't get flamed to a bloddy pulp. :E

Uh...you do know that you have to go to the setting menu and then to the tv out thingy... You DID do that right?

If your TV doesn't have an S-Video in the back, or if it is too hard to reach you can use one of these (link to shop selling what you need, with a picture) to change into regular Video in.

If you have got it connected and it isn't showing then either your TV isn't selected on S-Video.

Or your older PAL TV isn't S-Video over Scart capable and you are using a Scart to S-Video adaptor.

We really need more info so we know what your problem actually is.

Now, I may be totally off base here, but I know that you can't use digi-cam cables as TV-out for an iPod, because the digi-cams only have one channel of sound while the iPod has two (left and right). Anyhow, I thought you had to use that thing you plug in the EXT socket of the GP2X, at least that's what I bought. That means I still need an S-video she-to-she (which is arriving soon), but it was the only option given to me. I'll see if one could use iPod cables next time I bother going down to the living room.

Okay, so now I'M the one with the trouble.
I got all the necessary equipment (TV-out thingy, 5 metre Svideo and phono cables, female-female s-video extender, SCART adaptor with s-video) but when I hook it up, it's black and white and the screen is very jittery. I chose PAL initially, as that's what my TV is, but that didn't work. The NTSC setting didn't work either.

I tried using the search function, but TV and OUT are both invalid search words (too short) and video cable gave me nothing of any use that I could find, so I thought I'd just ressurect this thread instead, since it's vaguely similar, albeit with a different set of cables.

(Couldn't find anything in the Wiki either.)

Anyone with some insight on this? Could my new scart adaptor be at fault?

I wanted to keep the s-video intact, so I went for the female-female contact instead. Maybe I should have? I got it from America, but I should think that it doesn't matter, because cables don't give a hoot if they're carrying NTSC or PAL signals.

I tried searching for a while, and found this thread where someone was having the same bother I was. This one was also about my kind of problem, but not really helping.

I'm thinking I should probably get some new cables and see if it works, but wasting all that money on cables all the time isn't my idea of fun. I'll see if I can't find someone with the cables I need. Anyway, I don't really think that this is the kind of thing that would happen if the cables were malfunctioning. I mean, wouldn't it rather NOT work at all? Also, the cables are all 100% new, which means that while I haven't had the possibility to TRY them before, they should also not be malfunctioning right away.

The sound works perfectly with no lag, though, so I can rule out THOSE cables.

I'm not sure about what hardware you are using, but here is my experience. When using a device to convert signal from Svideo to regular composite video, if you don't use a high quality adapter then it will often appear black and white and/or jittery. I ended up trying several before I found a good working one.

That's the equipment I have. Including my MK2 GP2X, of course.

Thanks for the reply. I'll see if I can find a different scart adapter. That might work.

Old TV's don't have S-Video over SCART.

Some Scart adaptor's are equipped for this and have a capacitor to bridge the S-Video signals into the proper A/V one.

See wikipedia on S-Video for more information.

Your TV must specifically support S-Video over SCART for it to function, it IS NOT part of the SCART Spec.

Ahhhh... I see now! Now I feel stupid for not getting the s-video to A/V adapter in the first place. Would have saved me some dineros. I'll get myself an s-vid to a/v right away.
