I didn't find a direct photo comparision of the two devices (maybe I didn't look hard enough), but here's my take on it: shows hardware, firmware, and of course software. Click on the thumbnail to go on - enjoy! :)

Very good. The first time that I have seen this done. Good for any one who may get the two confused. That would be any one that is new to the scene and runs to ebay to purchase one! :)

Wow, look how dim and washed out the GP32 BLU screen looks compared to the GP2X

That's partly because of the stronger backlight of course, but also because of the oversaturated colours of the GP2X screen, they're so frustrating.

I would rather have deep saturated color than washed out faded color and poor black level though. Look at the PSP and DS lite those are even more saturaed than the GP2X.

Wow, that's an Mk. II?? I had no idea the Mk. II screens were that bright, considering how everyone said it would be dimmer than the Mk. I. Of course, I guess the comparison would also depend on which BLU model you were using, as the BLU+ was brighter than the original BLU.

OMG!!!!

Geez I am really scared to think how my poor lillte original GP32 would look like beside GP2X!!!! Mine has no back or front light. So I alway have to find a good lighting setup to play around with it. But I still love the curve round white case ;-). The more sqare look and black color make the GP2X look more like a serious device ;-). Maybe will think it is not a thing to play game on it, especially if you pull out that small keyboard, they will think it is one of those PDA almot utltra tiny laptop ;-). It also good that you try to compare with the same software so give us an even better ideas on the difference.

Thanks for sharing the pictures ;-)

I know, I thought the BLU looked good at night in the dark untill I got a PSP!!!... cant wait till I get a GP2X

That started from the rumor when Craig said the M2 would have the same screen as the BLU+. It obviously doesn't have the same screen as it is twice as bright.

Actually, everybody looks at it and asks, "Hey, is that one of those new Playstation thingies that just came out?"

Yes, there is a difference, but I'm afraid that my camera might have exagerated it a bit. When playing, the Blu+ screen is much more relaxing and equally visible providing you're not exposed to direct light.

Man, almost makes me want a GP32 *sniffles* as I even have two 128MB SMC cards for my aging 4mega-pixel digital camera.

The GP32 ran Quake??? How well? My GP2X at 280MHz runs it well enough, but not as well as a PII-333 obviously. About as well as my P-75 ran it, actually, which is probably why it's so perfect for me. It's what I remember.
