Drmd Speed On Gp2x


I would assume it'd be in the menu; probably using L/R shoulder buttons or perhaps one of the standard A/B/X/Y buttons to change the clock since the stick is so inaccurate to navigate menus with.

A good implementation would probably allow anywhere from 0 MHz (M68K Halted) to 100 MHz; granted the GP2X would probably start to crawl past 15 MHz even with a very large overclock but it'd be nice to see where the ceiling is. I've had a MegaDrive Model 1 up to 25.4 MHz before-- other components got very upset with me but the M68K held up. :)
 
stick+volume buttons would be nice, as thats the way psx4all does it, so it could become some kind of "standard"

I thought we all agreed we did not want any apps that used the stick press. Where were you when we had that vote?

I don't think he means using the stick press. I think he means you use UP and DOWN on the stick to swich between menu options and then VOL DOWN/UP to change the current menu option.

All I can say to that is UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT works well for me ( thanks to a DaveC Cap ) so its not going to change.

I actually mean the center push on the stick. Your emu doesn't do it so it really doesn't mean much to you.

Many of the joystick failures come from the fact that this center push button becomes worn. When this happens the shaft can drop rotate and jam causing the stick to stop working. Many emus use this to exit menus etc like MAME, GnGEo etc. Those are just speeding up joystick failure problems that can happen.

Ah yes-- good job finding that. :) That machine wasn't quite as resilient as a couple I have now, Model 1 Revision 1 units with MC68000s that can run up to 22 MHz with no glitches in most games-- you can only tell it's overclocked by the insane speed and total lack of slowdown. At 24-25 MHz there are a LOT of glitches, like the video at 20 MHz .. but most games surprisingly keep running for at least a few minutes there.
