Anyone Tried Those Lithium Aa?


Eh, lithium has insane battery times for my camera that runs on aas. But it's not rechargeable.

Edit: Ahem, lithium IONS are though.
 
Yeah, I heard they are trying to get recharable ones out within this year... That could be fantastic news for the gp2x.

Just wondering, if anyone has tried those Lithium AAs listed at:

Can you report how many hours they last compared to normal 2500mah?

The Datasheet (http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/l91.pdf) says "3000mah to 1.0 volts." That's the same metric used on the other batteries, so for all intents and purposes, it's 3000mah.

The question now is in the power draw curve. The above datasheet shows it as and almost linear discharge, like most disposables, so you won't get enough juice to power the 2X for very long compared to 2500mah rechargables (with a flatter curve and sudden drop).

I use these as backups for my gp2x in case my rechargeables die, and I must say, I've already gotten about 6 hours and the battery meter inside the gp2x still says FULL. They truly are fantastic batteries.
 
For cheap batteries try Panasonic's Xtremes, they last ages. 20 for £5.99 in Argos
 
I was going for at LEAST 10 hours on a pair of these. It was probably a lot longer. They had been powering my Digital camera a long time before that too, not even fresh!
 
I recently bought a 4-pack of these for under $10 at Wal-Mart. All I can say is the first pair hasn't run out yet, although I haven't really played my 2x that heavily since then either.
 
Probably won't happen. Lithium Ions are weird technology that requires ultra-tight voltage regulation when charging, e.g. if it's not in tolerance they might burst into flames violently. Their picky nature is part of why they're so custom and proprietary in most hardware.
