Squidgesneshack - Cannot Get It To Work

OK, reformatted my sdcard and put all the usual stuff on it and cannot get reeseys squidgesnes to work any more.

I have the following files installed in the same folder (both downloades from the file archive:

SNES: SquidgeSNES modified by reesy

SNES: SquidgeSNES 0.34.

Reports on getting reeseys hacked version to work has bred mixed results: some can play games; other people have no joy at all.

Can someone who has reeseys hacked version working let me know specifically what files you have on your SD card?

Thanks

what exactly happens when you try to load it?

EDIT:

i downloaded squidgesnes 0.35, extracted it into a /snes/ directory, then overwrote the executable with reeseys. roms are in /roms/snes/.

i found i have to load vector then quite before loading the emu, so that the games load after selecting a rom.

i am loading yoyo's settings i think (the executable with a different name from the original: squidgesneshack)

I cant get it working either, when I run the exec the screen goes black with a couple of lines of writing at the top, but it then flicks back to the OS menu before I can read what any of it says. :/
I've tried running it several times to try to make out the words, but the second time onwards it goes much quicker (like 0.1 second).

i think this is complaining about not finding the skins. Try reinstalling the normal 0.35 version then the hacked version again, and make sure you have a skins directory with files in it.

oops....sorry.

When I try to load Reeseys version the screen goes black for a split second and then goes back to the GP2X menu. I will try later with squidge version 0.35 and then overwrite with reeseys executable. I will also make sure there is a skin in there, although the skin works when I use the normal version of squidge. Is it OK to have two executables in there: one for normal squidge, and one for reesey squidge?

Will reply later when I have tested eveerything out.

Ah yes, thanks mrsnature, that seems to have done the trick... funny, dont know what could have gone wrong the first time. :)

a lot of roms don't work they just hang at the screen with the SNES console in the background when I try to load them up. It's games like Super Mario World that I played a few days ago, but now don't work. The only game I can get to work is Super Mario Allstars. I know these aren't bad roms because I've played them on the PC.

Thanks if anyone can help me.

as i suggested before, if you are using firmware v2, try loading and quitting Vector before loading the emu, seems to increase the chance of it working. I'm not sure why, this has been a problem for some people for a while, there was a different game suggested too. IIRC it was something that wasn't initialised in the emu properly, but running another game first initialises it correctly.

Well, if I run GNgeo it seems to kickstart the GP2X to get the Squidge Reesey to start working.

There is a demo of the commercial game Vector which gets installed on the NAND in firmwarev2, go to games>NAND

Interesting GNgeo use SDL, so it looks like SDL initialises everything correctly and Minimal SDK does not. I really don't want to have to use SDL :(
