AC Adaptor - comes with the Australian plug I just haven't had a chance to take a new photo our shipment arrived on Monday(29-may) and ther are a standard figure 8 cable(like xbox)
w00t!

One other question someone asked that I didn't see an answer for: Where are you, geographically? Doesn't make a real difference in this age of the global village, but it's good to know.

And don't worry about not being the cheapest on the hardware: the difference in shipping costs, and the peace of mind of dealing with a local distributor keep you ahead anyway.

They are in Canberra - I got an email back from them last night, answering this very question.

Cheers

Canberra? Cool. Play-Asia apparently include a lil bag of lollies with their order as a gift; gp2x.net.au can send out porn and fireworks. :)

Porn and Fireworks is going to be the theme for our BOR mod..... Just kidding.

Yep we are in sunny but chilly Canberra, we are doing a flat rate shipping $8 regular mail $10 express at the moment just to keep things simple. So if you are getting only a tv cable or a sd card it's pretty expensive for shipping but if you get a GP2X bundle (GP2X, Adaptor, SD Card, TV cable Free) we actually loose a buck or two on shipping.

Also for bundle purchasers (not that we've advertised) but I'm going to burn a cd of most of the apps and games that work on the GP2X to save you the trouble of downloading them. This was going to be a suprise hopefully I won't piss anyone off by doing that.

cheers DOUG

Craigix for gp32.co.uk already does that.

Great timing, I was just about to order a GP2X from the UK or Lik-sang.
With any luck I'll get mine before a friend of mine who ordered his from the UK last week.

Any plans to stock additional accessories?
Like the screen protector, alternate joystick caps etc... ?

We will be stocking more accessories in the future, LCD protector, breakout box etc.

I still need to talk to GPH about the replacement joycaps, but I have had a little play with the MK2 joystick and they are smooth and sexy.....

We are also looking at doing very limited edition runs of T-Shirts probably lots of 20. I'm really keen to get onto those (my background is in graphic design).

cheers

Got mine yesterday after only waiting a few days, works great, thanks guys.

Didn't get one of those suprise cd's you talked about though :(
Doesn't matter however, I'd already downloaded everything I wanted for it anyway.

Well, I got one of the surprise CD's and I was the first customer!

Yes, delivery was extremely prompt, I was very happy with the service and the product, but it appears that the right speaker does not work on my model.

This is not the shop's fault because the box was still sealed from packaging in Korea.

I haven't heard how returns operate yet but I'm an audio nut so not hearnig both left and right channels really bugs me.

Is it just that what ever you are doing is single channel?

No. As I said, I'm an audio nut so I've already done plenty of tests. I even tried the mono to stereo util that is now redundant with the new firmware.

If I plug the headphones in then I get stereo through the ear buds as normal. If I cover my thumb over the left speaker then I can almost completely muffle the sound.

Hey Tim,

I have emailed you about returning the unit, I can't apologise enough. I know what it's like to buy something and it's broken, it really sux.

Hi Loki,

Did you have any email problems over the past few days?? We had trouble emailing you... most of them bounced.

Did you receive any emails notifying of your order or that your order had been shipped??

My only guess is that you may have some kind of spam filtering on and unless I address it directly to you like "your, name" <yourname@whatever.com> your server may reject the email???

Also I was in such a hurry to fill your order I forgot to put the magical CD in the bag... oops. But I'm still sending you one out in the next couple of days.

And hopefully your GP2X works fine???

cheers DOUG

Hi guys. I thought it was only fair to do an update after recieving my replacement. The new GP2X from the Australian outlet is working fine. Check out this timeline:

Sunday - I email the shop to say that the unit is defective
Monday - I get a response saying send it back and they'll get me a new one
Tuesday - I mail off my defective unit
Wednesday - I get confirmation that a new unit has been sent
Thursday Lunchtime - I'm playing with my new GP2X!

I have no hesitation in recommending the GP2X Aus shop to anybody. Express post is extremely cheap for the rapid satisfaction that you get. Congratulations Doug and good luck!

Excellent news. Word of mouth is always the best advertising for this sort stuff, and I'm always keen to support a local operator if I can.

I just hope their special bundle holds out until my birthday in early August - I've been working on getting some Brownie Points from the other half so I can score me my new GP2x toy!

Yeah sorry about that, my webhost went down and I havent been able to contact them, so at the moment that email address doesnt work at all.
I got the CD today, that's what reminded me to check this thread, thanks alot.

The unit works great, it chews through the rechargable batteries that I got though, however I believe the batteries I got might be faulty, they're rated high enough but they only last about 10 minutes, I'll try with some friends batteries to be sure, but I doubt it's a problem with the GP2X.

Loki,

I have been using SONY Ni-MH 2300mAh rechargables and they last about6 hrs on average. I believe that if you use anything below 2300mAh the GP2X rips through batteries.

Try your friends batteries and if they don't work, it might be worth trying some AA non-rechargables something brand name like Energizer, they should at least last a couple of hours.

If you have anymore problems shoot me an email.

cheers DOUG

The ones I bought were Sony Ni-MH 2500Ni-mAh, however I got them very cheaply from a swapmeet, so it's quite possible I got what I paid for and they were defective.
I'll let you know if it turns out to be the unit.
Thanks for your help.

Yeah, watch out for those knock-offs. I got some AAAs from a computer fair recently that last about 20 minutes in my wireless mouse (my previous set of batteries, same mAh, lasted 2-3 days between charges).

Wow, great service from GP2X.net.au!

I ordered mine on Monday (a public holiday, Queen's birthday) and received it 9am Wednesday morning

Came with a nice, printed CD of stuff (as well as GPH's CD), and the extra AC adapter had both Euro and Oz plugs included (handy for travelling).

Haven't tested it out yet, but I'm very impressed by this distributor's operations and would definitely recommend Aussies to support them.
