Hey gang, first, I read all 16 Tv out threads that the search kicked out for me here, and was able to gleen some very usefull info on using my TV out; although I still don't understand WHY the audio jacks dont nullify the sound coming out of the actual Gp2x, which they should, but hey I can live with that. What I wanted to ask, and did not see in any of the other threads, is the following: Is it just my imagination, or is the TV out image a little "pixelated." Mabye it's just that I'm used to playing Metal Slug on the PSONE or PS2, but when I play Gngeo2x on my set (nothing fancy, just a standard 24 incher) it looks a little "pixelated" to me. Could also be that I'm used to playing on the actual Gp2x screen which by being much smaller than my TV screen logically gives me a "crisper" image. Just thought I'd ask in case there is some way to smooth out the lines a bit, but mabye it is just my imagination, as the AES games were meant to be played on Television sets, so they should look "perfect" coming off an emu too???? Thanks, H.G.

Hi,

I notice the pixilation go away after a second. Almost as if it is an interlaced gif. The rest of the pixilation I account to the fact I have a 32" Samsung LCD. For example, the GP32x.co.uk splash in Dr.MD has some pixels around it that cannot be seen on the GP2X screen, but show up quite bright on the TV.

But yes, the games should be a near perfect representation. Metal Slug on my TV looks great. Everything looks crisper on the GP2X screen, as it is smaller. Maybe it is just you :p

nah, i noticed as well that some programms/games pixelate as hell, more than they are supposed to, while others are perfecktly fine.

There is a situation where some programs seem to do this, it is a bug with the program because the author has not followed the tv out guidelines quite right, i think it happens with the original versions of quake and duke for example. Not sure if it still happens with the new versions.

The original versions of quake and duke used GPH's SDL for video so blame them if anything is wrong with the tvout :). The newer ones use paeryn's version.

Don't forget that MOST of the apps play in 320x240 and you tv is double that. Not to mention some of us are used to HD lcd monitors on our computers with scaling methods like hq4x, bilinear, and so on.

I tried quake on my tv yesterday and it was really wierd, it looked horrible. It had like a bunch of lines missing, sort of like the Amiga I think. Idk the ones that leave a black line bewteen each pixel it was crazy. I am using 2.0 firmware.
