So...

is my duke2x when running on Tv-Out supposed to look like complete ass?

Maybe it's just the nature of the beast, running a low resolution game like that on a higher resolution than it can support.

But if that's not the case - what's my problem?

edit: oh, to add onto this: I played a movie on Tv-Out, and it only came through on my GP2X.

Just loaded Duke2x on my recently acquired kit and have the same problem. Other outputs to TV are OK.
Does anybody know of a fix? <:-{

Duke uses SDL for video but it's been a long time since I last did an update. Maybe the tv out stuff has changed in more recent SDL versions? I'll try recompiling soon and I'll post a test version here (no tv cable so can't test it myself).

payrens hw sdl haves good tv-out compatibility afaik, try to compile with that one.
I've been using paeryn's SDL since it's first release, but it's possible the current version of duke was compiled with a version so old that the tv out support wasn't too good.

I've uploaded a version here that uses a more recent SDL (not sure if it's the very latest). I've not tested this on a gp2x at all though so there's a possibilty it won't even run, but if it does happen to run then please let me know if tv out looks any better.

Could you also have a go at quake? It seems to have the same problem as Duke3D, everything looks very grainy.
I´d love to play quake on my Eye Trek HMD...

Brill...............
Got TV now, many thanks for such a speedy reply.
I need to tweek the TV settings now to setup screen size and colour.
But a 10 minute play did not reveal any problems.
happy bunny this end.

Glad to hear it's looking better now :)

Fishbong: I'm hoping to do a bit of work on Quake later today if I get time (want to add Squidges mmu code), so if it's looking a bit crap on tv like Duke was then it sounds like a recompile should sort Quake out. I've also recently added something I found online that sets better fov values for widescreen resolutions so hopefully the next Quake release should look better in widescreen too.
