Heya. Got a PSP the other day, with Mercury, which is a great game, i'd reccommend it.

Anyway, i need advice.

Firstly, I'd like to hear your top games for the system.
Secondly, I'd like to know what the best dvd to memory stick software there is (need a couple of family guy episodes on there).
Also, i was wondering, in the games section, there is a thing that allows you to load games from the memorystick. What can this function be used for?
Oh, and, thanks in advance.

1. Mercury.
2. I think it's called 3gp converter or something. How big is your memory stick?
3. Depends on your fimware, what is it?

ridge racer
everybodys golf
taiko tatsujin portable
virtua tennis
megaman powered up
pursuit force
dj max portable
dragonball
burnout

i'll be honest theyre the best games ive played on the psp but apart from the first three the rest are just 'quite good' im still waiting for the really good games to arrive.............. <_<

for a good source of help with psp things go to either www.psp-hacks.com or www.afterdawn.com

Ok...

1.Metal Gear Solid Acid (1 and 2)
2.GTA Liberty City Stories
3.Syphon Filter (Probably not on the A-list for some people, I just personally love fpses)
4.Me and my Katamari

Pspvideo 9 is the shiznat! Convert...convert...convert.

For the games section, it is possible to use homebrew, but sony's being a pain in the ass and trying to stop it with each firmware update. Here's a list of all the ways to get homebrew on in the diff. versions of firmware.
1.0-Just load it and play.
1.5-Kxploit or swaploit, changes your eboot...somehow...
1.51-1.52-Google this, too lazy to remember how those worked.
2.0-Use tiff buffer overflow hack to downgrade to 1.5.
2.01-2.6-Have to use the GTA:LCS exploit where you can use a custom savefile to run homebrew.
Other than that, I don't know what it can be used for.

The bloody thing scratches like a bastard.

I can't bring myself to upgrade from my 1.5....

Homebrew on the PSP is nice....

(Ridge Racer, I loved it. Everybodies Golf, very good. Wipeout=good too)

The rest that I've played, average...

A fellow forumer has reccommended brasso (Brass scratch remover) for the hairline scratches. Do we all agree this is a good idea before i start?

Is it just me, or is the sarcasm palpable? Industrial wire wool would ravage your cds so hard, they would be impregnated with steel fetuses. Ow...lol...

Yes, but industrial steel wool is...um...overboard

Try rubbing that on your cds before telling me anything else.

If we're talking media then toothpaste. Seriously this works. I've resurrected several DVDs with trusty toothpaste.

If we're talking screens then that clear liquid car wax is supposed to be good for filling in the scratches.

BTW Loubear. Most of the people in this thread are from the UK and you ask:

Is it just me, or is the sarcasm palpable?

You should use micro fiber cloth to apply brasso. Plus, not all micro fiber cloths are created equal either. You spent $250 for your toy, don't be cheap and pickup some chinese micro fiber only on the label.

Wait, your cleaning the actual system right? Because, never, ever open the UMD cases, other wise you won't be able to put the pieces back toghether without superglue...and then the tricky process of trying to glue it while avoidind ruining your UMD.

Chinese people rule...and what does that mean BadToad?

Simply that we in the UK are probably the most sarcastic bunch of people on the surface of this planet. Check just about any thread with more than one reply from someone in the UK and you will find sarcasm.

It wasn't meant as a dig at you I was just surprised you needed to ask about the sarcasm :)
