What format do you want to use?

The coolest alternative is probably to ask if any of your fellow gp32x users can make some for you. A surprising number of people make their own music. Beyond that, there are sites with free music loops and so forth although the selection isn't always that great. But first, do you want mod files, mp3s, short loops, complete songs, or what?

i wanted ogg music files because fenix seems to play them very well on the gp2x. Whole songs would be nice but any piece of music will be good for now.

For example:

Using google, you can find many places with public domain or "creative commons" music that's free for non-commercial use.

Maybe you should have a look into tracker formats, fenix plays .mod, .it ant .xm There are tons of cool tracker music around in the net.
Another merit is that they will most likely need less cpu time for playback, so you´ll have more free resources for the graphics.

the biggest site is modarchive.

Yup, there are lots of great mods. Be sure to remember though that you shouldn't incorporate somebody else's music into your project without their permission. Just because something is available for download doesn't mean it's free for you to do whatever you want with it unless that sort of use is explicitly allowed.

!!!No, stick to ogg for Fenix at the moment, as it doesn`t play mod, it, etc. on the gp2x very well. (Problem caused by some sdl stuff)!!!

Hm... they work okay on Goitfights, however before they were very bad. Maybe it's just beta2 or otherwise its what happens when too much stress is put on the processor?

No, it may happen that you find some working ones. I think they may not surpass a certain file size... or maybe it`s just it, xm, etc. not working and .mod works? Can anyone confirm or disprove that?
