just got an flu, and i love it. i've read about other people that have had problems with various things on the gp32, and am happy to report that the 8-dir works just fine for me. however, rapidly tapping the a or b button doesn't always get as rapid a response as i would expect. i mean to say that on some games for the nes, for example, it was necessary to have a "trigger finger" rapidly hitting a button in order to get a series of shots off quick. i don't seem to be able to do that consistently on the gp. is that just the way it is, or is my unit to blame?

thanks

Maybe you should chalk it up to the emulator, or you're not used to the pad yet, I just got my GP32 last week myself but it seems odd that it'd be a defect in your unit. I was able to kill the spikey-steamroller things on stage 5 of Contra with the regular gun, and I think that's a pretty good test of rapid fire ability :p

My A button is louder and a little less responsive than my B button, but it doesn't make much of a difference.

button problems have been brought up a few times, my unit i find i have to put extra pressure on the R button for it to work, if u have a button that needs a reasonable amount of pressure to register when u are tapping fast theres a good chance your not always hitting it hard enough

i've read of a few people opening up there gp32s and fixing this but i don't know the details

you can open up your gp32, remove the pcb board carefully and take out
the a and b buttons. if you played a lot, there will be some dirt hanging around
the buttons and the holes where they go. just clean that sticky stuff and the
buttons work better again.

also, i pressed a&b too hard so after 1 1/2 years they werent working at all.
I found out that the translucent rubber mat was actually broken around
the cylinder which goes into the a&b buttons. I removed the pad and replaced
it by very tiny switches. they have smd contacts and i just soldered them by
small wires to the underlying golden contacts which are normally contacted by
the black part in the translucent rubber switches.

now my buttons are much louder, fitting nicely in with the joystick. i love clicky
switches. I have an ibm keyboard here...

but be aware that you need to chip quite a bit off the bottom of the plastic
a and b button caps!

happy repairing!
