16-03-2006: New MAME GP2X 1.9: http://www.talfi.net/gp32_franxis/

- Really faster (compiler settings, optimized memcpy in asm, etc).
- Support for extra 16 Mb of upper RAM memory. Enough to play Metal Slug with sound for example. Thx, Rlyeh and Unai.
- Some fixes in the sound (sound is not modified when a new game is selected and also during rotated scaled mode).
- Some fixes in the video (video buffer is bigger and there is no problem now with any game in all video modes).
- Street Fighter 2 Turbo fixed. Thx, Virucho28.
- Internal changes: All code is compiled now with GCC 4.0.2 (Z80 C core fixed) and with maximum optimization (Minimal lib fixed).

I can't keep up.. I think I am still using 1.6... :D

Thanks very much for the continued improvements.

lol. Sounds like me. I have not even had a chance to try the previous version.

Wow. Great release Franxis. I tried a few slower games like Street Fighter II, Super Sprint, Double Dragon and Final Fight, and they are all noticeably faster. Good stuff.

WHAO! Nice release. Gngeo2x better watch out. :p

I dont think they are really in competition. Mame is a jack of all trades, while gngeo is specialized. Each has their place.

Both of you guys are doing excellent work.

I unfortunately haven't recieved my GP2X quite yet... but i was wondering if marvel vs capcom runs on the current MAME version, if not, will it ever. If it does run now, how well is it working?
thanks!

Franxis created this emulator ... click "PM" to send him a private message.

yay mame type fun hope r-type works this time :D if not in future relieses is not on the gamelist.txt but heres hoping :D

edit: im not happy all i want to do is play arcade r-type oh well pce will have to do for now

I just wanted to add that "really faster" is a gross understatement. This new version absolutely flies on a LOT of games at 200Mhz that needed 266Mhz before just to run choppy at best.

Awesome work!

Not a criticism, just a question....
Is there a reason for using the older MAME versions rather than the newest .104 version?

Keeping in mind that the last time I did programming it was in Applesoft BASIC (pr#6, raise the roof my brothers!) I was just wondering if there were programming related reasons for using older MAME versions.

Thanks again, your MAME port was the primary reason I bought my GP2x.
