Not long .. maybe ~10-20 seconds ... maybe less .. I nver timed it ... why?

About 2 mins total, counting the patch as well. I just did mine...worked like a charm

Right, I forgot about the patch ... 2 minutes sounds about right :)

Small warning for people like me....

I didn't have time to buy a memory card reader so I could not upgrade my
newly bought gp2x to 1.4.

I then had the brilliant idea to use my PDA and upload the firmware using activesync onto the SD card (ignoring the "converting files..." popup).

I then inserted the SD card in the gp2x and of course messed up my kernel leaving me with a nice paper weight/reading light...

I then bought me an memory card reader, tried again and luckily it
worked....

my 2 cents..

What crazy kind of batteries do you use? :p I can get batteries from Pound Land, or other purveyors of cheap tat, and I can still get about half an hour!

My batteries last for ages (2300 mAh) I kept reflashing my GP2X with them, and I haven't bricked it (at least, not because of the batteries) yet.

Install the software package too, put the .tar.gz and the .gpu from the firmware package into the root of your sd card, make sure your NAND isn't locked, and run the .gpu.

Well, you need to run the .gpu manually from the utilities menu... you're doing that, right?
