I know people will be concentrating on other coding projects but if anyone needs idea's maybe attempt a port of marathon to gp2x? I mean to me the gp2x coding scene is stagnating a bit, loads of similar things are coming out (text readers, nes emu's etc) and I'd think this could be a nice challenge

This has already been requested on a couple of other threads....

Check out http://alephone.cebix.net/ for more info on the engine.

Could any devs comment if it will ever be possible to port this to gp2x?

Hm... an sdl version, one of the major problems before was that the source was opengl, but this might change things :)

afaik, the open source version f Marathon (2) is Aleph One. Porting to GP2X has already been discussed on the Wiki. It will be quite hard, since Aleph One requires OpenGL to compile (the software rendering exists but not used by the building system) and use 640x480 but no impossible.

Yeah, I just downloaded the source and I've seen worse code to try to get working. It needs someone with a bit of time to attack it, that's all... probably not me unless I get held up on my other projects.
