Hi all,

I finished making some icons over the weekend for Stella, Atari 800/5200 and mess emulators. All three are very fine work and my thanks go to their authors, this is my small way of recognising their efforts.

Feel free to download and use them.

All the icons were drawn by my own hand using photoshop you are free to do what you please with them, and if you like them let me know. ;)

Haha I love these little icons. Are you working on more mainstream things, like Genesis/SNES/Arcade Cabinet/Playstation? That would be tits.

Glad you like them, on the subject of the newer consoles, there seems to be quite a few variations floating around on the web already.

I did make a couple of icons for other machines that I couldn't find any for.

They are:

Toshiba MSX

Sega Master System

Caprice, although I see the newest version is bundled with no less than three icons.

BBC micro

And for some reason I decided to make myself a Lynx icon, despite there being quite a few available.

I do have one for the Atari ST that I made but I am not overly happy with the end result so I may have to try again.

Again these were all made by me so you guys are free to do what you like with them.

Very nice icons :)

I'm torn between using yours and actual (tiny) photos of the systems ... I'm re-doing my skin ATM, and don't know which diorection to go ...

I want to see your Atari ST one.

Okay, I found this really hard everything is grey and I found it very hard to do any real detailing as it blends in too much. If you squint you can sort of see an ST.

Thanks Lou,

I know what you mean about not nowing which way to go, I tried to make icons using shrunken down images but it didn't quite work for me, which is why I made these icons.

My icons aren't scaled correclty but with only 32x32 or less in most cases I think they have come out all right. Like I said you can use them for what you like, if you want to make changes by drawing over bits, tweaking the color or redoing the detail then you are more than welcome to use them as a base.

:)

Gameboy Advance-----------done sp edition with 12 colour variations

PC Engine Core GFX---------did a core gfx turbo duo instead
Spectrum 48K----------------done

After thinking about it I've decided to start working my way through the list. ;)

WOW, now how to use them <_< . I love these side projects. I can't wait to see little icons appearing for ports homebrew next.

Well you can either copy them into the folder where the related .gpe is, just make sure the name matches i.e. if your .gpe is stella.gpe make sure the icon is called stella. When you open the folder you will get the new icon instead of the generic GPH icon or one that has been made to go with a custom skin.

This is my arrangement.

I have all the programs with the exception of drmd in a directory called games. I have removed the .gpe extension from all the executables and made new .gpe scripts to show up in the games directory as a long list. The only thing that spoils the whole effect is that the four folders can't be hidden and show up first in the listing. But you'll get something like this.

menu_icons.png

An example of a script would be.

Code:
#!/bin/sh

/mnt/sd/cpu_speed 1 2 266
cd /mnt/sd/games/name of target folder
./name of target application
sync
cd /usr/gp2x/
exec /usr/gp2x/gp2xmenu

If your not overclocking just leave out the line

Code:
/mnt/sd/cpu_speed 1 2 266

But generally I like to set the LCD timing so I would use.

Code:
/mnt/sd/cpu_speed 1 2 200

I hope this helps. :)

HOLY HELL! You are messy.
BLOODY CHRIST, I was thinking the same thing!

And why does Gnuboy have to make a hidden directory in the root? It's very annoying  ;) :p

more than one program does this, i don't think it's intentional however. if you are using theoddbot's cramfs firmware, the default temp location is remapped from the nand to the sd card root.
