Gnuboy Prblems

it must be....I can't speak for version 1.4 firmware though, I'm still using 1.2.0 (simply no need to update yet, except the new fastboot fw is tempting, but I don't want to deal w/ issues that may arise w/ incompadability) Works perfect w/ 1.2.0 though. Anyone else try it w/ 1.4?

I've been using the latest competition entry gnuboy2x with the crmafs 0.0.4 fastboot firmware without any problems. I'd say apart from sram not being implemented it is pretty much the full package. TV-Out, choice of screen sizes, marquees etc...

Thanks K-teto.

On a side note, the previous version also worked for me under f/w 1.4.0 and cramfs 0.0.4.

How do you get the marquees to change? Also I have the verified good rom for Mr Do! and it wont load. I have now got the full gameboy and gameboy color romset so will try every version!

Maybe i'm just stupid but. IU can get the savestates screen and I can save the game but, How do I load the save state back up. Also, when I switched the machine off, the save states disappeared. Using firmware 1.2.1.

Any help would be of some use.

Y brings up the save states screen
A saves
B loads

i haven't had a problem with losing saves but then i always exit out of the app before shutting off. in many cases the script will sync the disk upon exit.

Does it have SRAM, if not, when?

No, use savestates...

Savestates > SRAM

But you can't play any Zelda games without SRAM. And Zelda is awesome.

I have a problem, that seems to be quite common, judging by the comments. I have the roms in the correct directory, they are all labled .gbc etc. But when I press start, the emu has no roms there, and when I press b, I go back to the main GP2x screen. I am running firmware 1.01 (or whatever the original firmware was).

Any ideas? Thanks

have you tried hitting select to go to the options screen? the first option there gives you the choice of two rom locations. then go to the bottom and save your settings. hopefully it's just that.

Perhaps we could have a choice of Gameboy screen surrounds (Original, Pocket, Colors etc etc), or a folder as part of the installation where we could just put our own (That would be best). An option to play it plain with no surround would be nice too.

Maybe we could configure GBC games to launch with a GBC surround and GB games with a different surround from the folder etc...?

Thanks for the help, got it to work. Was a bit silly.

And it works like a dream. Now, let's make a new recom-me-do gbc thread. What shall I play with it?

I'm having a problem with this as well. No matter which place I put the roms (either ./roms relative to Gnuboy2x.gpe or /roms/gameboy in the SD root), I can browse them just fine, but pressing B to start any of them kicks me back to the gp2x main menu.

For reference, I'm using cramfs 0.0.4 image, a fresh copy of the coding comp. release of gnuboy,
and roms that worked on the previous versions of gnuboy.

Any ideas? Should gnuboy itself be located somewhere specific on the SD card?

Thanks!

EDIT: cramfs version info

Just do what Rokdkasbah said. After pressing start when the emu loads, press select. You will see a load of options. At the top it will have the roms option, ie where to select them from. If you have the roms where they should be, you can toggle left and right to find them...

It worked for me...

i think he can see the list but not play any. that is weird. i've got cramfs as well so it shouldn't be that. your roms aren't zipped, are they?

I also had this problem, using an earlier version of cramfs. Have you upgraded to the latest (0.0.4) properly? Try doing the whole thing again.

The problem with GnuBoy is it tried to write the .gnuboy directory to /, on the NAND. In the latest cramfs firmware, / is symlinked to /mnt/sd, so everything written to / is written to the root of your SD card.

Upgrading to the latest cramfs fixed it for me.

yes i have the latest one as well. should have mentioned that. i'd been wondering why scummvm worked when others said it wouldn't (though not complaining obviously) :)
