Competition News

So much neat stuff. And my game made it in time as well. :)
I really like the look of the Geometry Wars-game and Ive always liked dancing-games so Beat2X (If thats the correct name) could be cool as well. Oh, and don't forget there are two ones which doesn't have screenshots yet. :)

And no, i don't have GP2X, puck tests all my stuff

Same here. Neither I have a GP2X yet, but I entered a game anyway. A big thanks to those who helped me with the testing!

Yes, it's called Beat2X and the gameplay is a lot like Stepmania (not all features but the most important ones).

I hope the new GameBoy emulator supports saving.

Plus that 3d star wars games looks to be cool, but then again I have to play it first.

LOL! DaveC is a god in his own right..

I would get one of his caps, but its too uch likea bird bath for me.. i like birds and all though, but not day in day out :p

I was thinking about entering the compo, but then i realised that i am a very precise person, and i wouldnt have my project (game) finished in time until i am satisfied. So im not realising anything yet.

I am very excited to see what comes out from this compo, i mean, the prizes are ace! So hopefully people wanted them enough to code us something cool.

By the way, i dont think whether anything being first matters.. i mean, they have to be fair to the entries (if i updated the snes emu and put that in.. next to an entirely original game, its not fair really) however, i have used an emu more than any singular coded game.

Im just glad there is the compo (sorry if you hate this word now! ;) because at least we have some more things to look forward to!

I have a prediction - its going to be an application that wins. Something unexpected. There are plenty of games out for the 2x, but the sdl aint so good, so the calibur of games and apps arent going to be the best that they can be. I am hoping that an app wins, because i find apps for useful.

For example, an app which basicaly modifies your whole 2x for you, with an explorer which lets you do whatever you like, move files, change icons and all that stuff and use it like a windows or mac (to organise things) and like having a boot up sound..
You know, an app like that would get my vote, if i could vote that is. More so than a little game for example.

But thats me i guess.

One thing i am wanting to se is toby drum man!! more buttons, more rhythmic bashing!! it would be sweet! i used this to make drum tracks for my band! On the fly, play a riff i made up and then try and compose a drum track to go with it.
It would be sweet to have toby drum man and have different effects and a recordable session etc.

I can only hope that this happens soon!

Whoever wins though, it wont really matter. Because i think we will have a good list of things which we will all use at the end of it :)

Not now because it works with A, B, X, Y, L and R buttons only. Future releases will add the possibility to choose between different control settings and one of them will let you play with the stick. That's when DaveC will make an attachment for it. :)

I won't win, I need a bit of optimisation on music. Puck, would hardware scaling be possible?

it'd be pretty funny dancing on a big pad while clutching your gp2x...you get a little too into it, swing your arm and

*fwoop*

out the window

Yes you have. My entry is only a small glimpse of what I will do in a future.

So far what I was presenting is somewhat unique... (however I'm not expecting it to win anything). It's a tech demo of early version of my... B)
(and it can already can compete with XXXXXX in perfomance and obliterate it totally in a features)

Hopefully once the usb breakout box will show I will be able to significantly increase progress of my Arm920T/940T research.

There are some extra capabilities just waiting to get advantage of!

Yeah... :)

Change OpenGL to just 2D lib...

and Quake3 to blitter.

Sorry but after all I'm not a magician. :)
(thought how my routines work is quite interesting)

Yes, I haven't tried if hardware scaling works in this Fenix version (it could, because it is using accelerated sdl), but if not, it probably will be implemented in next version :)

Ya, I'm pretty sure it's not implemented, cos I got a good speed increase when I presized on of the characters to get rid of scaling. However, this would take forever to do for 42 processes, each with their own animations, unless someone knows how to do batch resizing?

But, what Fenix version are you using? Beta2 or Beta3?
