I just downloaded yeti3d and xynth (both great by the way) and played the little demo that came with yeti. It was awesome, so i was wondering, are there any games we can play for this yet? I found a good number of games off google but they all seemed like they were for one system only, such as PS1 or windows.
Any games?
(PS-didnt mean to sound bitchy there :) )

Do you mean Yeti3D pro version? With the curved objects and gun and bad guys? Or the super basic cube based GPL demo?

I think its just the "super basic cube based GPL demo" :)

I'm guessing he means the demo in the 2x archive. It doesn't have any curves or anything like that so I doubt it's the pro version. Did anyone manage to contact the author yet by the way craig?

I was thrown back by this release, it ran so much smoother than I expected and the lighting was just great. I showed my brother and he was amazed, but he was desperately trying to load a gbc emu at the time on his psp.

I wouldn't say it's been thrown back for moths then, I would say it's been brought forward by how smooth the gpl version runs. And if the license is ever got then people would be able to upgrade from the gpl version to support extra features. (that is as long as he isn't charging $6000 per project like someone said)

No :( looks like the FPS scene on the GP2X just got pushed back a few months...

Craigix, did you get my e-mail with Mangelsdorf's e-mail address? The board wouldn't let me reply to your PM for some reason.

Although it looks like the actual author does not want to be found...

Is the Yeti3D demo for the GP32 the GPL version too, because that one seems very smooth to me.

No, my email is my username at hotmail.

The GP32 has a port of the PRO engine, which is so much better than the GPL cube demo which is on the GP2X that it cannot be compared on a serious level.

Are there any GP32 games that use Yeti3d?

I haven't researched myself because I'm feeling lazy. You don't have to reply to me if you don't want to ;) .

I guess it's back to studying for my test tomorrow :( .

Are you sure there's not a missing decimal in there.. like $60.00 or 600.00?

Shame he can't/wont be found. He and his work will be missed greatly.

Craig, did you manage to do anything with that address that I sent you? It came from the guys who did the pocketPC port of Yeti3D and they seemed to think it was his current address.

If not I'll write a letter to it myself and see if we can pick up the trail again.

oh, and it is $6,000 dollars per title:

$6k is cheap for a 3D engine (I think the quake engines were licensed for around $200k). But then again I suppose Yeti was developed for the GBA where the ROI would be much higher than for the GP2X so it's quite possible that price could be negotiable (if Derek can ever be found).

Yes but gba is a commercial system, 2x isnt. I doubt a lot of the people here have 6k just lying around to spend on an engine

Was a new version of xynth released? the version i have is slow and nothing usefull works. the link to a better version would be much appreciated if there is one :D

I assume that Craig was thinking about commercial development. It's not implausible that someone could license it for a game and then release it for gp2x and gba at the same time. The architectures are similar and since the engine would be the same... I think the gp2x sales would be like freebies for the devs.

I was also under the impression that Craig was pursuing this for commercial purposes when I saw the 6k price tag.
