Hi all.

I'm working in a rythm game similar to StepMania (for those who wonder why not porting it instead of working on a remake, it's just because I wanted to start it from scratch).

For now, it's playable during the first 45 seconds of a song as I haven't added events for the rest.

You'll find the binary and the source in this GP32Spain message. Before copying all the files to your SD, you need to download this song, and convert it to OGG -96Kbps, CBR- using any sound converter. You must keep the original name of the file but instead of <name>.MP3 it must be <name>.OGG.

Sorry about this mess, but the song is under a Creative Commons license and I'm waiting for the author's aproval for including it. I've contacted the music label (check 8bitpeoples) and they're quite interested in seeing their music in a videogame. For now, downloading and converting it will do.

To play the game, use L, R, A, B, Y and X. START quits.

A, B, Y and X are shown as arrows so that in my opinion it's clear which button you have to press: Y=up, X=down, A=left, B=right.

Hope you like it. I'd like to hear your opinions.

I would love to see a stepmania port actually, but i recall somebody saying it was opengl based, and so would not be ported anyway.

Any screenshots? My SD cardreader broke down last weekend...
Yes. There's one here. But I will change the look sometime. Now I'm concentrated in making it fully playable.

Very nice start for the project miq01. You should consider implementing actual graphics for the arrows later on for you project.

I would like to add that I compose a lot of music. That is, if your interested, I would be more than willing to contribute or compose some new songs for the project!

If your interested, e-mail me at steeledgedfingers@gmail.com or if you have MSN, you can add me with that same email address.

No animated penguins for now... :) The background will probably be static. Or at least, until I finish the game.

Thank you very much mrpham. I'm planning to add music from 8bitpeoples, but anyone will be able to add his/her music to the game sometime. Of course, apart from the OGG, I'll need a file with the steps. Tell me if you're interested. The format of that file is quite simple: for each step, you have to tell the program which button must be pressed (L, R, A, B, X, Y), and when (in milliseconds). Just check the TXT file inside the data folder.

Of course, if you did it at all it should be after you finish it.
