Rare Handheld To Add To My Collection

i bought one of these in the airport lounge at LAX in 1996, its also called a "WanderSWAN" i believe, and its one of those game machines i got, maybe, 2 hours of use out of before giving up on it forever .. i'd heard there were easy ways to hack the WanderSWAN, but i never did get around to sorting that out, because i was in LAX to go to Tokyo, and during that trip, in Akihabra, i picked up a gameboy programmer cart (this was in the days before lik sang) from a street vendor for Yen70,000, and i never went back to the WanderSWAN for my hacking fix .. nor, for that matter, did i get very far with the gameboy hack gig, because i let my brother have it and he lost the whole thing two days later by leaving it in the car (which then got broken into, etc, etc.)

ah well.

but anyway, just thought it might be interesting to note that the WanderSWAN was available in the airport lounges at LAX at one point, heh heh .. B)

i'm pretty sure your getting something mixed up. The supervision museam makes no mention of a version called a "wonderswan" There is a Wonderswan system made by Bandai that is completely different, but Watara and Quickshot made the majority of the supervisions.

i'll post pics when i get it..beat this Daclassicgamingmaster SUPERVISION POOOOWEEERRR. :p :p :p

There's actually a Quickshot version up for auction now if anyone is interested.

I can honestly say that I've never even heard of such a system :)

they are somewhat rare, you usually don't see more than 1 or 2 on Ebay at a time, sometimes you don't see any at all for a long time, its just the system and games are so horrible that even though they're somewhat rare, their not expensive, especially the Watara version.

I always wanted one of these...but then when the ebay auctions go over $5 I start backing off <_<
I guess I like it about fifty cents worth...

How can it claim to have "High quality stereo sound" with one speaker?

probably through the head phone jack, just like the original gameboy. But this sytem is actually a little bit better than the original gameboy, just very bad quality games. which pretty much sealed its fate.

almost all handhelds have stereo sound but only one attached speaker.

seems like I have the full set of games kicking around here somewhere, but I can never get them to fly in the emulators--must be the wrong format.
anyway, I'd still like to see the emu ported to 2x for completeness. seems like all it really needs is a menu. link

I should probably post this in the correct forum, though...I think I'll do it now.

Yeah I wonder if an emulator could be made for this. I think I have some ROMs for it somewhere. That would be interesting.

I thought that was the QuickShot? Or am I getting it mixed up with a different retro item?

There's a module in MESS for it, so I guess you could ask the guy doing that for the 2X to add it, and there's apparently also Potator for Windows.

The tezuka Osamu edition game boy light I have is the first i've ever seen on ebay. And i've been looking for nearly 2 years for a game boy light system. :p

I actually saw the other tezuka Osamu edition with Astro boy's face on it in the nintendo world store in NYC with some friends. It was in a showcase and not for sale. I was really surprised to see another rarity like that.

I own two of them. The games are no match for the gameboy, but they are ok. The screen is the problem: It's blurry like hell and you can't play good.
The funny part is inside of the machine. They use Tesa Strips to hold things in place and their soldering is very strange...
