Well I know "Toyz 4 Boyz" made a gps thingy (dont know right word lol) for the gp32 so what do you think they or someone else could/will make one. If so would it be anytime soon you think?

i dont think we'll see gps for a long while, nigels working on bluetooth / infrared keyboard thing right now i think..and most people want wifi mostly :)

i'm sure someone could use gnu radio to make a psychic mind reading mod...gnu radio is insane...i wonder if either a wi-fi or gps addon could utilize some of that code?

WIFI!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously, why have we not heard of anyone doing anything with it yet? all the info is on the wiki, just need software support and a hardware connector, but noone to my knowledge has done anything yet. i hope we get wifi soon, would kick ass

I can do without WiFi. Wouldn't it drain batteries obscenely quick though?

good point TelcoLou

but i have some questions if neone knows the answer

1. would using wifi hardware such as a sdio card require us to run our 2x's @ 200mhz or over

2. if not then would it drain power as quick as if it were @ 200mhz

3. are there any other options other than SDIO?

thanks in advance

This post is getting way off topic.

Beanfarmer, I doubt that you would have to oc your 2x to get it to run WiFi, and Triton JUST SAID that the WiFi would have it's own seperate battery, eliminating drain on the 2x's batteries.

Now could we please get back on topic? I for one would love to have a GPS for my 2x. :)

GPS? And with an external battery supply? Hmm, I don't see the practical use of such an add-on ... seem to me that it would detract from the portability, what with wires and chunky battery holders dangling from it ...

Though I'd like one for my car ... I get seriously lost all the time .. damn alzhiemer's ...

As far as I'm aware most GPS's are small, box like affairs that are about he size of two matchboxes stacked on top of each other, and are connected via some sort of serial cable - but most importantly have batteries built into the design.

Hey I thought you are never lost because you are directly above the center of the earth ;)

But the GPS that I used did not have (external) wires...

Woot! I just read that the new firmware supports 2 gig sd cards (even thought there not much needed) :)

Oh yes, my sig ... It's an obscure quote ... no one will know from where.

Well now, thanks for shedding some light on this GPS thing .. I was under the impression that the unit would be like the ones for cars and such ..

You're never too old to learn :)

No, no, no, it's an SDIO TV receiver we want first, I want to veg out at work.

Though GPS would be handy, need a car adapter for the power first though. This thing is getting less portable with every passing day.

I see no point for any of these add-ons. Just my opinion. I'm happy with what I have. At first I wanted WiFi then I realised that it's pointless.

on the go browsing and multiplayer gp2x gaming? hardly pointless, be awesome if someone made some kind of ORPG like PSO for the 2X, (if we had wifi of course)
