Great. A TV tuner.

You know, I play video games as an alternative to watching TV (which I'm convinced was invented by teh government to keep us all sedated)

Amen to that, brother.

might be difficult if its non digital since in the uk they will be terminateing all analogue stations in about 5 years i think it is , and i dont fancy a huge freeview box on it that requies 240V lets see ya 2700mAh batterys run that then :)

I watch little TV (mainly stuff like Simpsons/Family guy and other comedies ocasionally and some movies sometimes)- if I'm staring at a screen for hours on end I guarantee it's probably a computer monitor (or a games console/handheld). Most TV is simply dumb or a waste of time.

TV tuners can be cool of course if they work- I know some people would use it though I know I wouldn't. I've never used a TV tuner on a handheld myself, but comments on them from those who have are varying. For example the GBA one is apparently crap, but the Game Gear one is supposed to be really good, so quality and usefulness can severely vary. Of course, if anyones interested, go for it! The more hacks the better :)

I wouldn't want a TV tuner unless you could plug things you would normally plug into your tv into it (like a DVD player or console that GP2X can't emulate)

We don't have drivers for that. Besides, I can't even use this as there aren't any stations that send analogue anymore in germany.

I would get it if there's anything decent to watch TV.

Im in NYC in the USA and all they have on TV are a few good shows (LOST, 24) and I get those over Bittorrent

the rest are stupid talk shows and even dumb reality shows...

I would go with this if the port had power .

It just sucks that the usb on the GP2X is not powered it relly narrows down the scope of devices that you can plug into it .

Do you think their is a way to pull the 5 volt off of the batteries in the GP2X by wiring it yourself ? I mean that is possible I just dont understand the complexities of how a USB port distributes power .

Think you've hit the nail on the head there. The GP2x is powered by two 1.5V AA batteries, giving a total of 3V in the entire machine.

Now, how exactly is a 3V handheld going to supply 5V to its USB port?

You're sure ? It is difficult to believe this, is everybody in germany already equipped with DVB tuners ? In france we got DVB only since one year !

At least in the north of germany. They shut down every analogue station to get frequences for digital tv. My sentence was just refered to terrestical TV, though. And most people use cable-tv which is still mostly analogue here.

Anyone who would be able to design a tv tuner and code a tuner program for the 2x would definitely recieve a donation from me. I would absolutely love to have a little tv tuner module i could plug into the ext port. Although they would have to figure out some sort of way to properly commincate with the modules seeing as i think there are no ADCs on the ext port.
