I was just wondering if any of you devs were creating or thinking about creating :p a gp2x emulator. I know this sure would help the community. Unless its impossible or really hard or sumthin that i wouldnt know. B)

It's been discussed quite a few times now and every time people say it's pointless. If you want to test your app then simply compile it with sdl on pc until you feel like cross compiling and testing on the 2x.

I do believe someone was planning to have a go at trying to make and emulator though

Can you run executables through the serial cable because that would make devloping a lot easier? Once you compiled your program can you just transmit it through the serial cable and run it instantly? It would kind of defeat the object of having an emulator then and just test your exes instantly without having to play around with sd cards and usb connections

True, but compiling a serial terminal on the gp2x is a lot less work than writing a gp2x emulator for the pc. And it would be even less work if there already is a serial terminal :p

Well not evryone uses sdl. Some use C or asm so?

Oh and what i mean is a windows or linux app that runs .gpe's
you can use SDL with C. SDL is a set of C/C++ compatible libraries for using hardware on different machines and/or platforms using most of the same code, so porting can be very simple.

I thought Squidge was going to tackle one for kicks to learn about the console from the inside out and maybe clear up some of the issues in the technical documents.

He also said if he got bored he would drop it because he does this for fun.
